Finally feel good enough and had time to do a quick control picking run at Hinckley (ledges lake). Pretty rusty, but decent. Woods full of spider webs and dark. Hot and humid day. Hopefully can do more soon

hot and sticky today, and hosting seminar speaker and band immediately after school. So ran at 7AM, just fitting it in. Intended to do speedplay, but after waking up at 3 and only falling asleep again at 5 i felt really crappy and slow, and vaguely vulnerable, so dialed it back. I warmed up reasonably well, but i think i was smart to hold back. At 11pm after band my ankle felt a little sore (swollen? used new brace today for first time).

Long field day, warm. Forced myself to do this - felt slow and weak as i staggered around the nieghborhood. I am starting from scratch. Still wearing ankle brace, no obvious ankle problems (but perhaps some vague grumbling today). Fingers crossed.

Tamarack bog field work all day, and evening obligations prevented my planned biking, much like yesterday. Oh well, this has to come first. Two plots a day, so 3 of 10 down. Beautiful day, really pleasant field work.

After a full day of setting up band camp, and finally re-finding my ankle brace (didn't have it for the ride yesterday and all of the walking today), took a very easy tour of the neighborhood, just to say i did it. No ankle problems so far - i have religiously used my ankle brace and not used the hokas and not sat incorrectly at work. Presumably one or more of those is the culprit (sitting for sure, not sure of the others). Bought a spare ankle brace so i have one that's not stinky (hope it works - different style than the original).

Easy ride on delia and around there to copley road, just to get the legs moving. I think the sore upper back i've had off and on the last few weeks is due to the combination of strength work and biking. I'll keep them up, because i need both and i don't think they are a real problem.

After helping with band stuff, had to drop a key off at school, so rode road bike on crosby to towpath, and then went south, which I've never done. It's a windy but pleasant path, and it's easy to keep up a good speed. Few crossings, so it's quite nice. Went as far as the pavement extends (Wilbeth or waterloo, i think). On return went by school to drop off key. Nice way to stretch the legs.
Today I put on the new red arc cleats, which need a little more adjustment - ball of right foot occasionally rubs the crank, although the cleat is all the way to the left.

Amazing full day field trip to tamarack bog with Bissell and Loucek and Garris. Thought i'd only get 2hrs out of these busy guys, but got the full day! Great plants, and i learned a lot
Forgot my ankle brace, which was a big mistake - no problems all day but in the station afterwards had a sudden and serious ankle lock - had to hop around until it settled down in 10 minutes. Still sore at 11PM, even with ice and alleve. I have three hypotheses. The most likely one is that i hadn't really recovered and yesterday's run was a mistake - the walking in sloppy rubber boots then didn't help things. #2 is that the hokas or my tevas are responsible. #3 is that the biking (or overall level of exercise lately) is the problem. So, no running for a full week is the tentative rx

Busy day (no ankle trouble), but at supper time squeezed in this short run. Some minor grumbles from the ankle at first, but that settled down as i toured mount peace. hokas
