Hiking hills 2:30:00 [3] 5.55 mi (27:02 / mi) +400m 22:05 / mi
shoes: Trail NB 706 9D # 1

Acclimatization hike near Colorado Springs. Did a loop from the Palmer Trail/Section 16 trailhead. Starting elevation about 6600', max elevation about 7900'. First third was uphill; steep with switchbacks, up to a saddle;downhill was more gradual and wound around hillsides and through a glen of a stream that didn't have much water in it. Great hike with several views of Colorado Springs and out into the plains. More fun than I thought it would be. :-)

Note to self--add DNF Chron 1-9 to USOF page...

Exerc. Class 55:00 intensity: (45:00 @1) + (10:00 @3)

Exercise class in Chatham. We did a weight circuit first, then a stepping circuit (following warm up/aerobics and followed by abdominals and cool-down).

Good way to shake things up, especially with 16 exercisers in the room (I think it would be overcrowded with 18). It's too bad Jen couldn't keep her original studio. We make do pretty well most of the time with the American Legion hall.

Fitness equipment (elliptical) 35:00 intensity: (5:00 @1) + (30:00 @3)
shoes: Asic Gel GT2110 8.5D

30 minutes on the elliptical at the Y, followed by 5 minutes of cool down.

I also did 8 pull-downs at 50 lbs on the lat machine. Does this qualify as a partial pull-up (I won't reveal what fraction)?

Exerc. Class 55:00 [1]

Ex. class in Chatham. Due to the # of people there/lack of equipment/my late arrival, I had to make due with a small step (i.e., no risers). While this is better than doing step routines without a step at all, it wasn't very aerobic. Bummer.

If this keeps up I may have to leave Chatham and just go to the Y--but I really like this instructor, and some of the other class attendees. Maybe I'll even have to get outside and do other exercises, or go to the Y on my Chatham days... :-)

Hiking 53:55 [2] * 2.57 mi (20:59 / mi)
shoes: Trail NB 706 9D # 1

Hike at the Pine Bush Preserve in Albany. This qualifies as a hike because of the 'rugged' trails -- not because of roots and rocks, but because of the raspberry bushes (and a few multiflora rose branches too) across parts of the trail! Lost the trail at one point where a turn wasn't well marked, but didn't go too far before I turned around.

AOWN: I didn't actually see them except for movement out of the corner of my eye, but I think I flushed a fox and a game bird (partridge? quail?) within about 100 m of each other on the trail; Glen went by there shortly afterwards and said he heard some noise off the trail.
