Glen Tanar lap of Baudy Meg. Had planned to do some kind of hill session or the DR virtual race, but was feeling a bit flat and unmotivated. Enjoyed this once I got going, although never felt very bright.

300km with 10,500m climb for June is pretty satisfying for first month back from injury. Fingers crossed things are holding together and I haven't got too carried away.

Culblean Hill from Cambus. Up the new mtb track from the quarry - just the best wee path ever :-)) To the high point then dropped off the north west spur to the path back down the Culsten Burn valley. Rainy at the start and finish, but dried up nicely in between. Great little circuit. Am thinking of some nice longer runs incorporating this too...
Legs not too bad after yesterday, but certainly not trying to flog it.

From Feughside - Peter Hill, Mt Battock and Clachnaben with RB and BS. Great run. Feeling a lot brighter today once I got going and quite enjoyed working some of the climbs a bit. Nice route, apart from the Battock-Clachnaben peat hag killing grounds motorway. Lovely soak in the Feugh at the end. Niggles not niggling too badly.

V chill ride. Got to the bridge at the bottom of the hill and realised I’d forgotten my helmet. No way I was going back up for it, so headed onto the DW instead of the A93. Up to Aboyne, back Birse road and on to Potties. Stopped for a splash before heading home on the DW. Feeling really tired this morning but was good to turn the legs over.

Ben Avon with J. Out along the north side of the Gairn before heading up the Allt an Eas Mhoir then back along the high ground. Hot day and feeling tired from the outset. Also feeling pretty uncomfortable running with niggling hamstring, so it was never going to be quick. Foot was numbing up on the steep climbs and some of the rougher descent later too, but it eased off in between. Otherwise was just a fab day out in the mountains. Saw a golden eagle lift off from a burn ~30m away and then soaring overhead again later. Lovely swim in the lochan when we got back down to the bikes.

Relaxed recovery spin up to Aboyne, S Deeside via Birse loop to Potties and home. Blustery, but never seemed to be heading straight into the wind. Taking it chill for first half, but then realised I was feeling quite good and pushed a bit on the way back - not sure where that's come from today! Chasing down a couple of lecki bikes on the DW climb home to improve my crown time.

Mortlich and then back by Aboyne Loch and the old road. Felt pretty good at the start, but sluggish on the climb (no surprise). Went for the Mortlich descent and then started to feel hamstring niggle again and got some numbing back in the foot. Need to keep working on exercises to try and sort this. Nice steady solo plod at the end of a big week.

Lochnagar for ‘sunrise’ on the longest day with RB, KH and JS from the top. Sadly no sunrise on the summit - just rather a lot of hypothermic confused looking people who seemed to be waiting for someone to switch the lights on. Didn’t hang around long, but decided to head down Blackspout on a whim. Nice stop down near the loch for a cinnamon bun and R’s press-up challenge before climbing back to the col and back out the tourist path. Good crack.

With SP from Cambus up onto Cnoc Dubh then loop down to BoV and back over the hill track. Still a slight niggle from hammie, but much less noticeable than yesterday and quad soreness diminished too. Running felt not too bad once I got going. Lovely afternoon, much less humid than previous days, and a nice chilled catchup.

Unexpected day off after FK declared we'd all been working too hard and should have a holiday, so decided I should use it properly. From Ballater headed up Cairn Leuchan then dropped off the back and up to the Quartz cliff - a first time visit for me. Onto Mt Keen from there and then back by the more usual route from Ballater, finishing on the Pan. Foolishly had long tights on which were way too hot and sweaty. Actually turned out quite nice, with a fair bit of sunshine and the tops clear - big improvement over the last few days. Long way and got a bit of numbness in the toes again. It seems to be the steeper climbs that kick this off. Happy just to survive the distance though and it was a cracking wee adventure!

Glencat skyline with JS. Dreich day, no vis, but never actually rained - still completely soaked through by the finish though. Went off line a few times in the mist but just managed to check direction in time, before it got too messy! Foot quite tender by the last climb back up across Glencat to Corsedarder monument, but had been fine up until then. More good company. Brief chat with AD out on MTB too. Coffee and tray bake at FFS earned :-)

Redburn loop - out north on the high track from Raebush road junction and back parallel with road. Picked up a bit of lovely track new to me in the middle section. Hot and muggy. Running still feeling way too hard, but overall this was the best run in a while. Heel ~2/10 and didn't get any numbness in the sole.
