Road Cycling (Brittany Training) 1:20:00 [3] 30.0 km (22.5 kph)

Cruise over to Curtin Uni and back for the Sprint Champs

Nice tail wind on the way back
2 PM

Orienteering race (Sprint Champs) 17:25 [3] 2.12 km (8:14 / km) +19m 7:53 / km

Crap first control, ran at 90 deg to the right way and then got horribly confused as I was at 4 not 1 but took a while to work it out - good area with tight gaps and lots of micro route choice and very hard to be smooth even though I was not running too hard.

Mistake ont the first was not enough to have been up in the places others were running faster with less little mistakes and hesitations

GPS ran out before the end

Running 42:37 [3] 7.26 km (5:52 / km) +63m 5:38 / km

Lunch time run in Kings Park after house minding while the new Solar Photo Voltaic Electric panels were installed this morning. Good timing we hope with another 15% on electricity foreshadowed for the state budget next week.

Bit sluggish running and took the sand tracks which made it slower again, will need to warm up for the Sprint Champs tomorrow as it seemed to be at least kilometre before I felt like my legs were moving OK.

Road Cycling (Brittany Training) 55:00 [3] 21.0 km (22.9 kph)
shoes: Colnago CLX

Late start due to early morning phone conference with the USA. Rode to East Perth and had a coffee with Nicole before heading to the city.

Cool Easterly wind, had an undershirrt for the first time and was glad I had choosen that option

Road Cycling (Brittany Training) 16:00 [3] 7.0 km (26.3 kph)
shoes: Colnago CLX

Home with a nice tail wind again

shoes: Colnago CLX

Work via Windance Bridge, got picked up by a Captain Stirling rider who was going at a good pace into the wind in South Perth and Burswood. Tried to take the front for a bit but not strong enough so happy to sit on him doing the work.

Fast ride home, Easterly wind helps :-)

Running 27:13 [3] 4.93 km (5:31 / km) +64m 5:11 / km

Kings Park, took the GPS to see the distance on the new short route I had been running with Noel (who is now sipping Champagne in Belgium!) thought it was 5km and was pretty close depending on which garden beds you go around.

15 sec faster than with Noel last week but did not feel like it as legs were heavy at the start - can work on a faster time

Orienteering race (MTBO) 1:51:01 [4] 25.03 km (4:26 / km) +327m 4:10 / km
shoes: Avanti Mountain Bike

Smailes Mill Medium course billed as 23 and did 25km so pretty close to the shortest route, which would not have been the quickest.

No real serious mistakes but did lose a minute or two at #7 when I came from the East and went up the unmapped track about 50m short of the mapped track with the control. Lost of very heavy sand and gravel made for some sloooooooooow sections but not a hilly course so overall was not too pushed or wrecked at the end. Quite a few logs across tracks and some bush bashing required so lower legs chopped up.

Should be good if a few Route gadgets go up as there was good route choice and will be interesting to see who went which way and how the times compare.

Note do not follow Simmo into the events, he had a "good" way but after 10km we got to a number of large rocks in the road and the No Through Road meant what it said!
