JK - 3 good races, 1 crap race in the one I could've done best in, and 4 ok but not great results. Still, had some promising signs out there and very pleased with how far I've come since the Autumn, especially considering having to juggle the old work/life balance now (as opposed to the training/tv balance I had before). Not gonna be able to do much training in the next 2 weeks cos of exams.

Orienteering race (JK relay) 22:15 [5]

Ran as hard as I could, felt strong and didn't make any mistakes, so personally I was really happy. Plus it was fun trying to drop Nixy. Ultimately I failed, but with an ungaffled 22minute easy course and Nixy running as well as he was, it was never really gonna happen.

I'm not against it going down to 3 legs next year, but someone needs to make sure that all 3 legs are important - i.e. difficult, gaffled, and longer than 22minutes.

Orienteering race (JK Classic) 1:30:40 [5]

4th place in a long/hilly/tough/rough race - not bad for me. Only one small technical blip at 16, but looking at the splits, I dropped a lot of time on routes through the crap towards the end (was in 2nd and only 1min down on Oli at 25). Some good splits on the running legs (13 and 17) and a good start to the race. All my strength training has been paying off.

Orienteering race (JK Middle) 38:20 [5]

Poo. Good course, good terrain, iffy map. Started well and got into the lead at 6 and 7. Then screwed up 9 (went through a weird brain/forest/map warp) and Oli caught me. Ran with him for a bit, we ballsed up, then I didn't even bother to follow him to the finish so lost another couple of mins. Schoolboy stuff. Not a happy bunny - should've done well today.

Orienteering race (JK Sprint) 17:08 [5]
shoes: New Balance 1024 - 2nd pair

5th place. Easy sprint course and beaten by 4 boys who would have beaten me in a 5km road race, so pretty happy to be as close to them as I was really. It was pleasing that despite feeling heavy and slow, I was actually running quite well.
