Snows Hills State League, M40. Fun adventure through vague low-vis spur gully. I'm going to be slightly provocative and say that I found this quite easy and was a bit surprised by claims of it being really hard, as evidenced by some huge time losses on livelox. Yes you couldn't see very far but the contours were big and round and obvious and there was enough shape to go off to keep online supported by rough compass. I suspect it's a difference in technique based on where and how you learn - this was just like night training on pathless Cannock Chase maps. On the flip side, I'm always impressed by how little time the Aussies lose in complex granite, which I struggle with.
Enjoyed the old school style course with just 8 controls in 8km and definitely agree that it's the longer legs that make this terrain most challenging. Could be a place for a few shorter legs to smaller features too though - coming off line in micro route choice on the shortest leg to #6 was my only mistake.
Felt terrible running though - lack of fitness really starting to bite and still not lifting legs right in the terrain. Mpks not much faster than a walk :s
