ahr:180 max:195 rhr:60 weight:73kg shoes: Adidas Supernova Glide

2.5km time trial on Fire trail.

Not the most impressive time. Slightly slower than I expected.
Was not looking forward to this, so probably slowed myself down.

I think I should be able to get this down to the 9minute mark by Summer.

Definately need to include more long training ; sustained high heart rate.

Run warm up/down 15:00 [3]

warm down Hackett oval

Decided to swap my sessions around.

Went for easy ride around nth canberra

Friday Apr 27, 2012 #

Note

Hockey at Tuggeranong 8:40pm was cancelled. Too late to do another session.
Probably ok though as I have time trial this weekend

Took it easy as this was my (inadequate) replacement for the long slow session.

Good group of kids.

Filling in with Friday night team.
Vs. Queanbeyan at Tuggeranong (on the new ground).

Played centre-forward.

Had a massive multi-cramp part way into the second half and had to come off.
Lots of chocolate milk, isotonic, second dinner with lots of salt followed. Hopefully I pull up alright for tomorrow's game.

Obviously not up to high volume days yet. :D

Bike long (mtn bike) 14:00 [3]

Didn't have much time between school and going to Chelsea's work dinner.
Planned to go out for a half hour ride.
Flat front tire by the 12min mark. The curse continues.
Was probably for the best as it was getting pretty dark.
Scared a few kangaroos though.

core (yoga and strength) 22:00 [3]

Thought I better do something useful in my remaining time.

no mapping today.
Lots of odds and ends to clear up.

Decided to postpone long slow till tomorrow (as I will be somewhere nice to run). May go to the new "werribee River Park" if I get sick of YY.

Tuesday Apr 10, 2012 #

12 PM

Note

4.5 hours mapping of complex hillside. Lots of big rocks. Nothing exciting today.
5 PM

Run tempo 11:36 [4] 2.24 km (5:11 / km) +99m 4:14 / km
ahr:168 max:189 shoes: Brooks Cascadia (green)

a short quick tempo run after mapping. It was getting dark and I didn't have the energy to go for something longer.

Felt a bit sick charging up the hill. Probably haven't drunk enough.

Map and pace route:

Generally frustrating event.
Was still a little sore from yesterday. Attempted to run at competition pace, but am obviously not competition fit.
Some early frustrations with the mapping of vegetation/ the lack of updating.
IE no difference in areas between white and yellow. Large unmarked patches of green, and huge impenetrable blackberry patches a few hundred metres in diameter not being marked.

Couldn't handle the hills, and I got the feeling the course setter felt they needed to compensate for the lack of distance by putting in as many hills as possible. ( nearly 8% climb based on the proposed 6km course length ).

It was also clear that no one had actually gone and ran some of these legs, especially around 12 - 20. I was frustrated to have my route dictated to me by features that weren't marked on the map (particularly the huge jungle of blackberries from 12-14). Then to finish it off, the final few controls were all 'run along the fence line to the finish' controls.

BUT WHINGING ASIDE. I obviously have lots to work on; Hills, endurance, attitude.
