Note
slept:9.0 (rest day)

More energetic today! I think I did a good job managing volume over the weekend:)

An unexpected surprise: checkup w my dermatologist this morning, and she have me a prescription for my poison oak! Yay for good timing!

orienteering (Blue Mountain) 48:16 [3] **** 4.44 km (10:52 / km) +220m 8:43 / km
spiked:20/26c

Middle with lots of controls, no trails or streams or stone walls. Wasn't going hard, but my legs felt like I'd just raced or done a really long strength workout or something.

New shoes were awesome!!! There were some super-slippery rocks that I decided to try to go up even though I thought I'd fall, and the shoes totally stuck to them:)

Running (mostly hard surfaces) 10:00 [3] 1.0 mi (10:00 / mi)

running drills (agilities) 5:00 [3] 0.25 mi (20:01 / mi)

running drills 7:36 [3] 0.5 km (15:12 / km)

Warmup

orienteering 10:00 [3] 1.0 km (10:00 / km)

Compass exercise

Orienteering (walking) 28:00 [3] 2.0 km (14:00 / km)

Line-o. Time's an estimate. Really tired, so decided to walk this and do the simplification course in the afternoon.
1 PM

orienteering 33:28 [3] *** 3.59 km (9:19 / km)

Blue Mountain Training Camp

Control pickup on simplification course. Pin flags are the best thing ever!

For 3 controls, I drew a simplified map. Had to re-draw a couple because they weren't simplified enough. Maybe I should practice that.

Reeeeally slow. Not quite recovered from last weekend. Focused on staying in contact and forced myself to visualize the piece of map I already had in my head before I looked at the map again.

No significant errors, but one control I wasn't sure how to simplify, and one control I hesitated. When I couldn't understand my simplification maps, it was a conscious struggle to keep moving confidently and not look at my real map.

Running (mostly hard surfaces) 27:00 [3] 3.0 mi (9:00 / mi)

Sorrrrrre from kickboxing video. Especially my back/shoulders/sides/neck/glutes/hip flexors.

core/legs 25:00 [3]

Kickboxing!!! I was jealous of all the people I saw doing lunges and squats yesterday at the climbing gym.

Running (mostly hard surfaces) 25:00 [3] 2.5 mi (10:00 / mi)

It was really windy out, which was fun. I heard that Boston got a wind warning tonight. I didn't even know those existed.

Note

Poison oakkkkk. Lucky to not have to worry about these things in Boston :)

core/legs 1:00 [3]

Brooklyn Boulders! We learned to belay, and we got to play this game where you surprise your partner by falling off the wall unpredictably. Too bad Dad wasn't there.

They also have ellipticals, a pull-up room, pretty graffiti, and free yoga classes. If I were in the market for a gym, it would be a no-brainer.
