Running 35:00 [3] 7.0 km (5:00 / km) +50m 4:50 / km

The 'Where is the raspberry popsicle" loop. I have to use the moskito avoidance technique: Breathe downwards, be ready to spit out any flying object immediately.

Relax warm up/down 15:00 [1]

Stretching, breathing and relaxing. Some muscles are seriously tense, stretching and re-aligning is definitely a good idea.

Running 54:00 [3] 10.5 km (5:09 / km) +100m 4:55 / km

A 3.5 effort, I push wherever I can, have to slow down on some trails, because it is getting dark. I am in ok shape, considering that I was deadheading flowers, transplanting some other green species and cutting all the grass around the house. Plus I mix the grass cutting with the compost and rip out about a 1.2 million weeds. A healthy day of work. Guess it builds endurance. Or at least a flowering garden.

Running 35:00 [3] 7.0 km (5:00 / km) +50m 4:50 / km

The "Vive la France" loop, celebrating the head butting talent of the Grand Nation. Otherwise just a regular run, down to the river, watching the water and the falling night. Quite a thud once the nightfall concludes.
I mapquest the distance from my house to a certain village of Laramie, 1794.41 miles. The compass setting is West and since I am not a pace counter, I will use a map to navigate there. Pretty much a trail run: I-84 to I-81 to I-80.

USGS trail map run 2:07:27 [4] ** 21.13 km (6:02 / km) +550m 5:20 / km

Up to North Mt. Beacon, crossing to the fire tower on South Mt. Beacon, elevation about 1550 ft. Great views, all the way to Manhattan, the Catskills and over the hills of the Highlands. I run (climb...) down the cliffs of the Breakneck Ridge trail. Down at the stream, the trail continues with a gentle descent, much better than the steep hillsides more north.
I cut down to the Melzingah Reservoir, sing a mental note to Pete Seeger, who lives right here, old and still happy growling his songs.
I cut through submoron garbage land to the Metro-North tracks along the river and run back to the Beacon train station.

A great run, almost all on trails or gravel roads, with beautiful views and some cool woods.

Intervals tempo 12:30 [5] 3.2 km (3:54 / km) +40m 3:41 / km

4 x 3 min. tempo runs. Stop during one tempo run to check on the black raspberries. It takes me 17.55 seconds to evaluate the patch. Verdict: Not ready, but great wild berry potential.

Running 44:18 [3] 8.0 km (5:32 / km) +60m 5:20 / km

To, between, after runs. It is hot and humid. The speed comes back with the tempo runs. I hypnotize myself, suggesting that I run the Wyoming hills. Reading the Swampfox AP notes gives me the daily inspiration to get in the right frame of mind. I replace attack badgers with local stupid barking dogs. Rabbits are stand-ins for antelopes. Foxes stand in for, well, you figure.

Running 35:00 [3] 7.0 km (5:00 / km) +50m 4:50 / km

The 'Rabbits with weird antlers' loop. Nice early evening run along the river. I have learned to breath at a downward angle to avoid the swarming attack moskiters. I don't see any deer with weird antlers, but several rabbits with round, flapping antlers, almost like the rabbit ear antennas. Maybe they have internal TV.

Running 43:28 [3] 8.0 km (5:26 / km) +50m 5:16 / km

The run to the faster runs, between tempo runs and the run back from the faster run to the non run. One big brown fox runs in front of me for 20 meters, then he gives up.

Intervals tempo 13:02 [5] 3.2 km (4:04 / km) +40m 3:50 / km

Flying, almost. Good speed on the good trails around Dennings Point. They cut some fallen trees. Maybe they will also cut the high grass on the trail.
I see some great looking black raspberries, but I can't stop in the middle of the tempo run to check them out. I got to go back another time, maybe I get a few pounds. Home made raspberry sauce is the ultimate doping. Forget Powergels and blood doping and growth hormones. Berry soup is the way to go.
