USGS trail map run 2:07:27 [4] ** 21.13 km (6:02 / km) +550m 5:20 / km

Up to North Mt. Beacon, crossing to the fire tower on South Mt. Beacon, elevation about 1550 ft. Great views, all the way to Manhattan, the Catskills and over the hills of the Highlands. I run (climb...) down the cliffs of the Breakneck Ridge trail. Down at the stream, the trail continues with a gentle descent, much better than the steep hillsides more north.
I cut down to the Melzingah Reservoir, sing a mental note to Pete Seeger, who lives right here, old and still happy growling his songs.
I cut through submoron garbage land to the Metro-North tracks along the river and run back to the Beacon train station.

A great run, almost all on trails or gravel roads, with beautiful views and some cool woods.
