Flatter part of the walk to start, from parking to the finish area. I should have jogged to make my start time but I couldn't move any faster.

The part of the walk to start from finish area to the start line. I was a bit late and missed my start time but they scheduled me for 10 minutes later which gave me a nice rest.

Whoa, was I tired. Made mistakes left and right in the kind of terrain I usually love (as far as detail)....except for all the deadfall to step over or around. Despite the 1:7500 map (like yesterday), I sometimes couldn't judge up from down, which bit me particularly hard from 4-5, where I managed to relocate only after stumbling on my #2.
Dutch Lake map, nominally 2.3km, 70m climb on a 1:7500 2.5m contour map. Sunny and probably about 60 or so when we started racing.
Mistakes to 2, 4, 5, 7, 11. A humbling day after two good navigation days for the sprint and long. About 20 minutes or so behind the top women on the course.
Still, as the only F60 competitor I swept the races and took home the gold medals and prize (a ceramic magnet that says Gold Rush [what they call the national events they host] 2017 and Play OutsIDe with the ID inside an outline of the state). Nice memento.
We took a different scenic route back to Boise via Ketchum, which took us down along the Sawtooth Range and near the source of the Salmon River which runs N past Stanley and then west, south to Riggins, and then west again to empty into the Snake (which flows into the Columbia and ultimately the Pacific Ocean). The pass we needed to cross after leaving the Salmon Rv behind was at ~8700', the highest elevation we've been at on this trip (not counting the plane rides).
