In two senses: folks sure did like the fact that you and Gail were around to visit with, and also that you appear to have knocked off the rust that was afflicting you at Pawtuckaway; you still got it.
Abso-freakin-lutely to both sentiments. Really great to see both of you, and to see you happily orienteering.
Thanks for the kind words. It was a really nice weekend, and Gail was glad to be part of it too. For both of us there were still a few folks we had been hoping to connect with, but it didn't happen. Just more reason to keep showing up. :-)
My orienteering was certainly better, much less of the feeling I had at Pawtuckaway that whatever skills I used to have had mostly disappeared. It helped that the map was really good. The long leg on Saturday (1-2 on my course) was an early test; things kept popping up just where I expected them. It was a fine feeling.
Sunday was more of a challenge. I was struggling especially in the vicinity of 4 and 5 on my course to identify things in the terrain that seemed from the map that they should be more obvious. I didn't really miss anything, but there sure seemed like there was a lot of time spent standing still and trying to figure things out. But that's usually better than wandering around in some sort of random search mode.
But I really did enjoy it (even though I was very tired by the end on Sunday). And very much enjoyed the drive over and back with Phil, been missing the good conversations. What's the saying, you don't know how much you like something until you can't do it anymore.
A delight to see you and your family, Peggy. I haven't seen Max for quite a while. He is growing up into a fine young man. And Nadim, well, you hit the jackpot with Nadim, and that seems as true now as when you got married.
It was so nice to see you and Gail!!!
