Water skiing with bryants! My best run ever I think! Sooo flat, but I was passing back and forth over wake loads, and almost overtook boat. Recovered over a few waves previously impossible things :P

I was aiming for about 20km, but got a bit carried away. I've never ventured over there before... It wasn't as nice as Pollensa, but I got a lovely shot near the end of the headland, and the road is very quiet and pretty much single track, but well maintained the whole way.

Longest lie in!! 10am :o bizarre I know! Dad's bday so had a relaxed morning.

Attempted time trial along bypass which wasn't the best idea considering the heat, but I managed to keep up 35-36km/h for a long time and hit 42km/h on the flat when I really got up to speed!! Threw in llenarie on the way back which clearly hampered time seeing as that's a dead steep with 3 switchbacks...

Lighthouse + Water Tower Ride.

Up at 6:45. Breakfast: 1 weetabix + 1 bowl of cornflakes.

Ended up only setting off at 7:30 after a dodgy tyre and a mix up with the pumps. Really dull day, thought I even heard some thunder which spurred me on to finish quicker, but was probably only the sea. The section back from the lighthouse through the forest was mint! Really straight and only a few undulations, but mostly a slight downhill so kept above 40km/h most of the way through there!!! Wasn't too good for legs though, and climb back to viewing point was tough. I then continued straight up to water tower which was probably because I paced myself more. A few fun switch backs up there.

2mins rest, then hurtled down the mountain and recovered on bypass...

Furthest, hardest, and most climb on a route I've ever done!

Cap de Formentor - conquered today!

Started at 7:14. Steady pace up 6% gradient to mirador del colomer, then free-wheeled down far side to sea level again. There's a false flat through the forest for about 4km that is actually about 2.5-3% gradient!! (really noticed it on descent). The road then reaches 8% for a bit then curls round the rocky outcrops through a few tunnels (no lights so had to be really careful) towards lighthouse. With the lighthouse in sight, the road then descends and finishes with a nasty 10% short climb to the lighthouse itself. Most northern part of island!! :D (Goats almost knocked me off)

Only saw 6 other cyclists on whole trip, but took in much more of the views on the way back. Used eroski -1 for warm-down.

Really enjoyed the ride and must try again some time :)

18mins from home to mirador del colomer (200m) then dropped down far side a bit.. Probably only 50m vertical descent, then turned round and immediately went back to top. I didn't feel like I had legs to climb all the way from the bottom, let alone make it to the formentor lighthouse.
From the viewing point, I descended, reaching 61km/h!! (Fastest I could get on the twisty roads and pretty exhilarating!)
As I reached the bypass, I followed it down to eroski +1 roundabout, then doubled back along the sea front, past home and crazily back up the road to mirador del colomer (200m). Legs were very sore at the top, but I just turned around and rolled back to the bypass, then did a little warm-down (following some very good cyclists).

Along bypass out towards old town, then straight on towards lluc, but I was expecting the ascent to start soon after the turning, however I continued for about 2.5km and still only tiniest rise, so I came back. Viscious head wind whole way back!!

Same climb up mountain to mirador del colomer, then dropped down far side, to the formentor hotel/lighthouse road split. Went towards lighthouse for 4km slightly uphill all the way until it started to drop back down again (7km left to lighthouse!) maybe another day!!!
Climbed back up to mirador del colomer (a bit trickier). Stopped for 2mins then went up to the water tower thing (coll de la creueta). I ended up above the clouds!
Finally just came back down. Took 6mins to descend from viewing point. Didn't have to pedal until I was about 200m from home.

At 9 me and sam went straight to bike shop to change the bikes from 56cm to 54. Didn't realise at first. Also fitted SPD pedals + cleats. Then cycled to Can Vidalet vineyard. On the way we kept stopping and starting cos sam was complaining about being uncomfortable.

The journey back was much better and we did some leap frogging to keep us entertained. Sam went straight back and I went up Gomar (little hill) - looks bigger than it is, then two turns of the formentor road to get a feel for it (not much at all).

After sleep I cycled up formentor road to mirador del colomer (viewing point) to see what it was like. First proper climb on a road bike (6% gradient). Got into a good rhythm. Descent was amazing! Reached 55km/h

Got bikes from the hire shop and then cycled around a bit, got video store card etc, but whilst cycling along the pump fell off and flipped into the back wheel ripping the valve in two.
Had to change inner for first time ever! Not too hard, just very hot and got very oily hands!

Ride was quite random. Some bits I was flying, and other sections I barely moved. Overall good, but can't wait for new bike (mainly the seat, cos balls just get seriously squished :/) but also inclines are a pain. Not relaxing enough.
