Bank Holiday: Royal Wedding, which I kinda missed, so just an extra day off school.

500km mark on new bike (since September 2010). It's awesome :)

Felt like I haven't been on bike in a while, and its Wilmslow Triathlon next Sunday, so did practice 20km aiming for race pace. Took ages to get into a rhythm... legs a bit groggy from not waking up and run yesterday... Changed seat position to as far forward as it goes, but got cramp in left calf half way round cos it changed the angle I was pushing at, so raised seat by about 2cm which seemed to help. Through Over Peover and along A50 to home was mint! Was hitting 40km/h in a really stream-lined position.

3 Day week comes to an end... genuinely need the break! :o

Half fancied a run, but wanted to stop so many times :/ Knee was a bit weird, but kept a steady pace and it faded. Went to Bells, then through the car park up that little road and looped back round to the bridge over the river. Then to A50, down Booth Bed Lane to Goostrey and back across A50, through Shakeley Mere to home.

Fastest pace: 3:37/km

In gym on exercise bike. It's a bit weird, but I didn't fancy intervals on road bike. Worked up an incredible sweat!! Was literally dripping off my face!

Home -> HC -> Congleton -> Marton (down A34) -> back on route from other day, Lower Withington -> Over Peover -> Home

On A50 there was a cycle race, and I fed into the first few riders who had all the gear. Tri-bars, aero-helmets, shoe covers, the lot!!! Over took one... lol... tbh he was almost going backwards! Then one overtook me, and I was goin bout 33km/h then without consciously thinking, I just kept at his pace and was doing 38km/h next time I looked down :o ... needless to say this was the pinnacle moment of the entire ride, barely 3km in... Downhill from there, or rather plenty of uphill which pretty much killed me.

HC to Congleton was fast actually. Bout 31km/h average, then cos I didn't know congleton and was following signs + traffic, pace dropped, then some hills took it out of me, wind didn't help. Got onto A34 and concluded I wasn't going to complete the loop round to Knutsford cos I'd actually die!

Noticed bike wasn't quite right and I narrowed it down to the back tyre. Turns out I hadn't done the valve up properly on Wednesday... back on the move, and 500m down the road chain fell off as I was cranking up the gears for downhill... chain came off again at some point later too... just got frustrated, lost all rhythm and that's what made it feel shit. Hadn't eaten that much today tbh. Roast for dinner was just what I needed (strange how the one time we have it on saturday I actually really really need it!)

Finished mocks :) Had a picnic with Beth then she went to work, so I decided to capitalise on such a lovely day and go check out all the lanes I could. Went towards HC, cut through Twemlow to Swettenham. Then out to A34 at Marton and up to Siddington. I then went away from home a bit more exploring towards Macc a bit down a road I'd see a cycle race come down. It was a lovely ride. Then back usual route down Batemill Lane, through Over Peover, along A50 but went to Janice's to check what she wants doing.

Going to coat some furniture tomorrow. (That road still has a stupid amount of pot holes.) Overall quite energy sapping, but fun.

Tried this with shorts which have extra padding, but I got annoyed with them for a while, then didn't really notice them till 5-10mins from end.

Day off school, so had a nice lie in to recover from hols ;) then revised pretty much the rest of the day. Got to 5 and I'd had enough plus everyone got home = distraction :/

Went across fields to trading post and back via shakerley mere. 1/3 across fields, 2/3 on side of road. Could feel my body creaking from yesterday. Good to warm out the stiffness though.

League Cup Semi Final

Winnington Park vs Lymm

7-50.... Lost :/ Half time we were only 12-0 down, but last 10mins conceded at least 3 of the tries.

The game was really good, but we were definitely the underdogs, and this time you could tell who was the better team. They train 4 times a week. We haven't trained in about 2 months, and had no more than 10 to most training sessions anyway... You could see how much fitter they were.

Feel battered, but proud to play for wprfc badge. Last game of season. Possibly my last ever for the club.

Wasn't sure if I'd go today after D of E for past few days needed to do some revision. By 2:15 I was bored shitless, so decided to get off my arse and run. Went over to the Bells, then down cobbles to main road to the footpath I noticed the last time I ran that way. I ventured down there which took me over a load of fields and onto the Peover Golf Course. The footpath kinda disappeared, but I found my way onto a Lane then found another footpath, and after going across lots of fields littered with ugly huts monitoring the salt mines, I came to the road between lach dennis and the post office.

I then cut through past more abandoned stuff I never knew existed to Peter's Farm. Went round shakerley mere once to lengthen it out a bit and back home in just under 11km.

The fact I had no idea where to go at points and the numerous stiles slowed the average time, but felt like a good run overall.

3rd Day. Micro-navving exercises. Lovely walk up to 947m, shame visibility at top was only 20m. Came back down Devil's Kitchen which reminded me of the steps into Mordor off lord of the rings. Really enjoyed today.

Got fed up with revision so went for a spin. Not as nice as yesterday, and sun barely came out, but not chilly (still shorts and short sleeves). First hundred metres or so legs felt dead, but eased up to a nice pace.

Went down to HC, back up to Swettenham. Through Swettenham and back down batemill lane skirting Over Peover (same distance as going through it but I found it has pretty much no traffic). Chain came off twice! First time in wash lane barely 3mins in, and then about 5mins from end on A50. Meh its just me not concentrating when changing gear. Lots of gear changes today cos of wind. Tail wind is beautiful, head wind is grim! Especially since had tail wind the whole time away from home then from half way back was a slog in most parts.

A lazy transition from bike... considered stopping, but was on a bit of a role. Went over to the Bells and tried what the magazine said about running style... Either I was pumped up on something special and didn't realise, or it really does work. When I was doing it and looked down at watch I was pulling 4minute ks!! And that's after 30 odd k on the bike and jelly legs!

Really impressed with the run. Felt amazing :)

Its a shame I lose so much time with stiles and getting back into the rhythm again :/ Still prefer off road though.

It was a grim day but felt like a bit of fresh air. I fitted the lights to my bike, but it looked like it was about to rain so opted to run instead. Low and behold it started drizzling after 1km and continued throughout which was quite refreshing even though I got really muddy and drenched. I did my route across fields to Goostrey and back through Shakerley Mere. The last section over the motorway bridge to home I had a split under 4:00min/km and got below 3:30 on the lane!!
I was aiming at under 40mins but only set this goal after I crossed the A50 with about 3km to go. Got faster with each 3km progressed into the run. I think its cos I was stiff from rugby yesterday and needed to loosen up a bit first. Downside of having no warm up :/

We won 15-12!! Awesome game. We played better than the score line suggests, but who cares? We won and now into the final!!!
