Flew down to Nairobi in Kenya today. Excellent flight and watched the amazing desert scenery pass underneath the plane. Decided to bring the running shoes and have a crack at a run while down here (just here for 2 days for work). Hopefully the muggers won't be out at 6am!

Running 1:00:12 [3] 11.9 km (5:04 / km)
slept:8.0 shoes: Asics Kayano 18 (Mar 2013)

At last, some sleep! Big project finalised at work so able to relax last night at the big work summer party. Lots of chatting, eating and dancing - great fun. Dragged the little one home at midnight - very late for a 6 year old, but she was having such a blast that it would have been mean to take her home earlier. After a nice sleep in, headed out for a good tempo run around the Bois and down to the Seine. After a slow first couple of km, got into a good rhythm and felt pretty good. Struggled over the last few km coming back home, but then picked up when I could smell the boulangerie - nothing like fresh baguette to make one's legs feel fresh again! Then watched the nailbiter Wallabies-Lions match - a real thriller!

Running intervals 39:23 [4] 7.6 km (5:11 / km)
slept:5.0 shoes: Asics Kayano 18 (Mar 2013)

Decided against doing the sensible thing and taking a day off after two runs in a row, and compunded it by going out for an interval session with one of teh young whippets from work. Built like a greyhound with a springy stride, this guy can run. But, undaunted, I had a go at a series of 2min H / 1 min E intervals. Did the first one at a blistering (for me) pace of 3.44 (it was slightly downhill, which helped), then followed that up with more sedate paces of 4.14, 4.22 (uphill), 4.04, and 4.12. My running partner didn't stick with me after the first one and bounded off into the distance on the subsequent intervals, with me having to yell out to him to stop at the 2 minute mark. Good session though and seriously hard work. Definitely take a day off tomorrow ...

Running 44:45 [4] 9.3 km (4:49 / km)
slept:2.0 shoes: Asics Kayano 18 (Mar 2013)

Hard night of work and not much sleep, so this run was a real struggle. Headed out with Jésus, who I normally am able to comfortably match. But on this occasion found the pace pretty taxing. Felt very tired the whole way round and as if I was on the edge of a heart rate episode. But plugged away and finished up with quite a solid run. Must get some sleep tonight though.
