Warm Up/Down 45:00 [2] 2.7 km (16:40 / km) +175m 12:35 / km

Walk up to the start, didn't do any jogging which probably wasnt the best idea.. Did stretches once at the start..
Didn't do a warm down which was also a bad idea because my legs were killing me in the car!

Orienteering 1:57:19 [4] 6.5 km (18:03 / km) +300m 14:40 / km

Oh Dear..

I actually was really enjoying myself, even though i knew i had been AGES, but that went away when the relaisation that Kirstin and Abi had caught me up 25 and 30minutes at number10 sunk in.. Didn't start well at all, so thats three races in a row i've done that.

Messed up number one because i was trying too hard. Was reading into the map too much, picking off everything, when I should have just run straight to the wall, and then navigated to the control from there.. Woman asking me where she was put me off, should have ignored her, but I was walking trying to get the control right at the time. Eventually found number one after going the wrong direction through the open.. Stupid mistake because the big crags were really obvious!

Lost a bit of time on number two, was too far south but relocated quite well which i was happy with :)

Number three was going really well until i let myself get distracted by other people.. I knew the control was just over the crag i was at, but then i went south west to the veg boundry and got confused, then realised where I was and got to the control fine!

Number four, probably not even worth mentioning; 28minutes 35seconds it took me, should have been at least half that time I think! Thought i knew where I was, and i was really confident about the leg. Had planned to cut through this little bit of green to get to open at the other side, but i never got there because i think i was looking at the wrong place.. Was stood in a clearing near a crag, trying to work out where i was and was then helped by Jenny who had done exactly the same thing I had done.. Found out where we were and thensorted it out from there.. Can't believe how long it actually took! hmmm.

4-5 did not know which way to go, so that leg took me ages aswell. Ended up going round on the track and in at a clearing, using a fenced area to help. Once i got down to the track the leg went really well and I was so pleased that i actually knew where i was :)

5-6 was good, slow again, but i was pleased because i got straight to the control :)

6-7 was ok, slight confusion near the control circle but not too much.. Slow again but navigation was good.

7-8 Took me ages, but i had been slow throughout. Picked off the features well and knew exactly where I was all the time which really helped!

8-9 Good but slow.

9-10 Wrong re-enterant at the start but as soon as i couldnt see the control i just went on further and it was there.

10-11.. Took a route which was too safe, around the wall for a bit and then across. Knew where i was at all times, but going straight would have been a lot quicker!

11-12 Good, knew where I was going for once :)

12-13 Was too happy about number 12 so went off a bit.. Was actually in the right re-enterant but too high up, but didnt relaise so carried on running and it took me a little bit of time to get back. Found the control fine after that.

13-14 Went too far south east of the control but realised where I was when i saw the wall bend.

14-15.. Slow! followed people :)

15-finish.. Slow :P

Overall, not happy with my starting again, but my running felt good and after number four i felt like i was orienteering good, but thats probably because i went so slowly.. Lost a LOT of time everywhere.. Never orienteered on an area like this before, so it was a good challenge and taught me a lesson i think :P

Positives: I was 11th/15 and from the start list, I hadn't expected to be higher than this anyway so that was good.. Navigation got better as i went along.

Negative: Lost a lot of time, every control had a loss of time either through navigation mistakes, hesitation or just general slowness.

Well done if you actually read all this! :)

Warm Up/Down 40:00 [2] 2.8 km (14:17 / km) +200m 10:32 / km

Warm Up: Walk/Little jog around the route of the Great Tower Time Trial, just looking at it and deciding the best way to go at some parts.. Then me and Dad went out again but cut the big hill out to try jogging the downhill sections for practice.. Then did some jogging and stretches before the start..

Warm Down: Jog by myself around the area left of the time trial, near the toilet blocks and some stretches.

Running 23:03 [5] 3.6 km (6:24 / km) +200m 5:01 / km

Great Tower Time Trial..

Did ok, but at the end I felt like I should have done a lot better.. Went off too fast and the first hill tired me out a bit too much so from there i was dead.. Maybe should have pushed harder than I did on the second lap.
Not really sure if I enjoyed it or not, but comparing times against other poeple was interesting :)

My Times:
1st lap/2nd lap

181 - 1:24/1:40
182 - 2:36/3:24
183 - 2:04/1:58
184 - 0:51/0:59
185 - 1:20/1:27
186 - 2:43/2:37

Running 15:00 [3] 1.75 km (8:34 / km) +50m 7:30 / km

Went for a small jog around the training area with Dad to loosen up my legs before the time trial.. Was quite nice :)
