Run (Belair) 1:25:00 [3] 16.0 km (5:19 / km)

Met Jenny, John, Zara & Lauren at Belair at 7am. It was much cooler up there than down on the plains! We ran up to the tap along the tracks at the north side of the park (fun running along the single track beside the deep gully to upper falls - I love that track) and then continued east along the train line out of the top end of the park. I've never been this way, so it was all new scenery. Then we turned off down a little track under an oak tree down to Station Road, up to Upper Sturt Rd and along a little way past the tennis courts and then back down through the park via Long Gully. Nice run, but my legs protested a little at having to run in the heat. I'm having trouble eating enough because I'm too hot, which means I don't have lot's of energy for running. Why don't they invent some kind of high-carb fruit that's cold and crunchy? Like a super-carb mango-apple! Yeah. Hello biology project for next year...

Cycling (Commute) 35:00 [3]

I think that the heat must addle some driver's brains as today I had the most near misses in a while. Made me want to use a 'I was a jerk to a cyclist' sticker. http://www.boingboing.net/2009/11/05/bicycle-defen...

Run (Brownhill Creek) 1:10:00 [3] 12.8 km (5:28 / km) +140m 5:11 / km

Went for an early run with Jenny up Brownhill Creek to the Pony Ridge switchbacks and home again. Nice and cool in the creek and I really didn't mind being a tiny bit late for work for such an enjoyable run.

Run (Suburbs) 36:00 [3]

Morning run over the bottom of Randells, over Brownhill Creek, up to McElliotts Quarries carpark and home. I was taking it easy because it was already warm at 6:30am, but was surprised at how quick I got back. It was particularly cool along the creek and I was tempted to just run up the creek and back once I got there, but decided to save it for tomorrow morning when it will be even warmer! For some reason I kept thinking about icecream while I was running...

Cycling (Commute - Uni) 55:00 [3]

It's hot today. It's hotter riding up to the top of Flinders Uni. But then it was hotter still riding home at 2:30pm - at least it was downhill. Hot.

Too hot to do much else except eat mango and watch lectures online this evening. :)

Cycling (Commute) 35:00 [3]

Put the pannier on my commuter bike this morning and realised the back tyre was flat - again. I must have got another puncture coming home on Friday after work. So a quick transfer of gear into my backpack and my mountain bike took me to work instead.

Run (Brownhill Creek) 39:00 [3]

Jenny and I headed out for an earlier than usual run up Brownhill Creek so that we could make it to the Wallaringa meeting. A bit warm, but we were both more than happy to take it easy. Up past the caravan park and back. Home now at 10pm and it's still 30 degrees outside. Hmmmm...

Run (Randells/Belair/BH Creek) 1:25:00 [3]

Ran up to Belair through Randells and as I ran past a group of MTB riders outside the service station one called out my name! Turned out to be Heinz, Wendy, Lee and a bunch of other riders getting ready to head out. Had a quick chat and continued into Belair National Park. The original plan had been to head up to the tap and back, but even though I'd got up early for brekky and left by 7:45 am it was getting a bit warm, so I left the park at the rail crossing and went home down pony ridge and through Brownhill Creek. I'm glad that I did, because it was 30 degrees by the time I made it back to the bitumen paths of the suburbs and the northerly winds were sucking the moisture out of me. I think if I'd gone all the way to the tap and back it would've been even hotter and I wouldn't have enjoyed the run home at all. Think I'm slowly adjusting to the heat now, though.
