Note

Today's activity was to get to Hood River from Boise, which we did. Along the way I managed to spot three bighorn sheep (one with very large horns) along the basalt cliffs and walls as we started entering the Columbia River Gorge.

Other interesting wildlife seen this weekend include numerous bald eagles and osprey, plus pronghorn antelope (in fields near Stanley ID). At one point when we were driving along a road Glen yelled "deer!" to make me slow down (I hadn't seen it yet), which actually turned out to be a pronghorn (corrected from elk, which we didn't see). One mountain bluebird, several Stellars jays and magpies, and white Pelicans were among the unusual birds. Oh, and three owls(!) at dusk, at our motel on the east side of Boise Thursday evening....made a screeching noise so maybe screech owls?? Didn't look like great horned owls,

Here in Hood River, we strolled from our motel to the museum (which was closed) and back, crossing the Hood River on a footbridge. Saw maybe a dozen or so windsurfers and/or parasailers on the Columbia taking advantage of the stiff west wind.
