Running 43:11 [4] 6.25 mi (6:55 / mi)
Get in Gear 10K. From my vantage point at the start, the sun crept from behind the clouds to backlight the huge flag, which was suspended between two ladder trucks as usual. This happended just as the national anthem began, as if on queue. I realized my long sleeve tee was overkill and I was soon to be sweating profusely.
Leila managed to beat her nemisis to finish 3rd in her division. Mike took 2nd in his division, and Erik 13th in our division. I trailed at 26th of 221, shaving a huge 1 second off the pace of my previous best.
This race is bittersweet. Two years ago, the last time I ran it, was the only time my dad saw me race. I made it a PR. It was also that weekend it became apparent he was ill, soon to be diagnosed with cancer.
Running 27:00 [2] 3.0 mi (9:00 / mi)
Warmed up with the MDRA crew I stumbled into along the parkway, before joining TCRC people to jog over to the race. Loped along to get home afterwards.
