Was up late last night watching the Tour and didn't get my ride in before the rest of the family was awake. However, I did find some time after dinner to get it in. Easy spin out Clayton and Kehrs Mill then, starting with the bump between Strecker and Wildhorse, nailed it every time the road slanted up on the way back on Wildhorse, Conway, and Ladue. This made for a dozen or so hard efforts of 1-3 minutes each. Probably not quite as valuable as a disciplined interval workout, but a lot more fun than repeats on the flood plain.

In to work. Left knee had some minor complaints. Might not be fully healed.

Easy spin home with a stop by STL Wine Bar to try a couple Pinots that were quite nice, but too pricey for me.

Grass Arch+4. Felt good despite the heat. Longest run since Kettle; we'll see how the legs deal with a real long run this weekend.

In to work with 25 minutes tempo. 85F/75F dew point before the sun was even up, so I decided I'd better get the tempo done on the way in. Legs made no secret of their displeasure with this task on only 36 hours rest.

Conditions coming home were arguably nicer than the ride in. Hotter, but not quite as humid and a nice breeze. Of course, it wasn't a ride for those who fear electrical activity as there were many lightening strikes nearby. Despite the fact that it easily passes my 2nd Degree Risk Threshold*, I've never been too worked up about it. It was a bit wierd to be riding in and out of a thunderstorm yet in the sun the whole time. Never really got soaked as the heavy stuff didn't arrive until after I packed it in.

*2nd Degree Risk Threshold: Someone you know knows someone it happend to. They have to really know them, not just someone they heard about. For most people, the 2nd degree population is around 10,000. If it's never happened to a group that size, it's probably not worth worrying about. In the case of lightening, I don't have to look nearly that far as my mom got zapped when she was a kid.

Another 101F for a high made me glad this was an off day. Just pedalled a few quick errands.
