*done some research to help decide if I should sit more on climbs, evidence is equivocal either way- with some support for lighter builds (I.e Pantani) preferring standing. Will try only use standing for serious climbs

overtook a cyclist on Dukes Pass!!!, he looked fairly decent i.e had a road bike, clip in shoes, no big belly or grey hair! Slightly died after that....

Garscube Harriers. 2 mile w/u 2 'mile 10k +30 1 mile +10, 1 mile 10k, rest w/d. Slower pack so held back for the first 2 mile rep, then smashed the other two (6'07,5'47- uphill). When I stopped leg major seized, need Stirling direction physio recommendations so I can cycle there post work. Hobbled back- kinda happy but annoyed with my leg!

Started helping out at Mugdock cycles on Thursdays to learn more about bikes- the absolute nicest bunch of guys who know so much. My break pads had worn down to the metal lol (longgggg gone), chain is gone, and 4 years of DW40 'love and care' was scraped off. Couldn't recommend the place more. Also apparently I once turned up at work with a tyre pressure of 18... not 120

Home, the other way round Loch Katrine (Kinlochard, Aberfoyle etc). Really recommend, it was beautiful- coasting along as I was too busy looking at the scenery. Will do again next sunny day!

From David Marshall Lodge, Aberfoyle. Along the bike route (7), to 3 lochs car park etc- basically paralleling Dukes Pass, gained a lot and felt good. Stopped to tie shoe lace at 32 mins and my left calf/ around knee seized, progressing pain until I was limping back down!

Flat sections I was approx 7'23, hill (inc a 10% gradient) 9'40, then down hill with my limping 8'40...Basically was running quite quick until the way back. Hopefully just a spasm no lasting niggle.

Balfron>Dukes Pass> Loch Katrine. Drizzle- Almost got taken into a bush by a neanderthal driver who preceded to slow down then swear at me when I started reciting the highway code.

Extended my ride home because after pissing it down all day, there was a break in the rain (remained very windy), Loch K. bike hire serviced my bike so it felt beaut, sat on my bum in the kiosk for work all day, + new cleats meant I was dancing up the hills. Happy days- absolute lush ride.

around g'gow stop/start all day. Total time 2.40 but traffic lights and what not so deducted. Averaged 17 mph.

Dads work (west end)- town (Various Bike shops)- Mugdock (up the steep climb by the reservoir- ouch)- Milngavie (Opticians)- Charing x (friends)-town (Mum)- Garscube estate (Training).

Disaster. Ended in tears (literally).

Meant to be 25 mins out and back along the canal.
plan- run with Jill as I could tell my legs were heavy/ I am faster but not by a huge amount. Push on after the turn around- legs depending.
Reality- Mhari forgot a watch, tagged onto me and pushed my pace on 'come on Fran we can go a bit faster' etc- went from comfortable 7.25ish min/mile to 6.45. Voiced my concerns- but the pace did not slow up (increased) and I felt myself being dragged along uncomfortably. Hit 5 miles in early 33's- with uphill left, decided to slow pace but Mhari kept telling me to hang on, and I was getting quite upset (panicked about the pace) so my breathing was going so she was saying meant to be positive stuff, but this made me feel worse , so I couldn't face it and stopped at westerton.

Mentally weak. I think Mhari and others remember the faster me so assume I can handle a faster pace (I used to be comfortably quicker) however I have had over a year of on/off injuries so I know I'm incredibly slow, and people telling me to speed up when my legs feel like lead just attacks my confidence so I get upset/ disrupts my breathing which doesn't help. No, I probably will never return to my previous fitness/speed/ volume of running specific training; but I want to be confident and comfortable enough to plod along at my own pace.

Looking forward to next week were I can put things right by finishing a good session. What I will not do: increase my running training to compensate for this disappointment (previously I would of done this), instead be patient and stick to the plan- it will come.

'I can't be bothered session'- 1 mile easy w/u, 1 mile tempo/hard, 1 mile w/d. Stepped in a pothole and kinda hurt my right ankle with the weak achilles on the w/d... tomorrow is a rest run day scheduled anyway. 5.48 mile.
