No point in taking risks at the moment

10 AM

Running 1:20:11 [2] 15.96 km (5:01 / km)
shoes: NB 1080 #4

All good fun until my Achilles suddenly flared up again (hadn't felt anything since I'd taken a couple of days off for travelling home). Pretty sharp pain so bailed on finishing the long run

Running 1:07:01 [2] 11.47 km (5:51 / km)
shoes: Asics Fuji racer

Properly exploring the bush behind my folks' place to see if it was worth mapping as a quarantine project. I remembered it just being really green/steep but today I managed to find some pretty decent sections so just need to figure out if there's lidar and then might give it a crack

Running 30:38 [2] 6.77 km (4:31 / km)
shoes: NB 1080 #4

Singlet and shorts weather for the first time in a while so at least something good's come out of this (but nah yeah I actually enjoyed this quite a lot)

Wednesday Mar 25, 2020 #

Note
(rest day)

Somehow one of the least stressful travel experiences I've had, too easy

Tuesday Mar 24, 2020 #

Note
(rest day)

Travel day - very sad times but unfortunately had to make the call to head home. Felt that the risks of long term disruptions have increased significantly in the last two days and the potential returns of staying in Sweden get smaller each day too. Was definitely an interesting night, made the decision at 10:30pm, then 8am flight this morning in order to (hopefully) get home smoothly

Study break to keep myself sane
4 PM

Orienteering 1:08:06 [2] 10.71 km (6:22 / km)
shoes: VJ Bold 7

Another easy-ish mass start thing, this time on the north end of Lunsen. Almost as much fun as yesterday's training which is saying something. Started in the chasing group and worked my way up to the front with some good orienteering in the first half. Then a bit of a mistake on a vague control so lost the lead but some good learning generated

Saturday Mar 21, 2020 #

4 PM

Orienteering 1:18:49 [2] 12.12 km (6:30 / km)
shoes: VJ Bold 7

Easy pace mass-start on the outrageously lush southern part of Lunsen. Great group of boys, fun orienteering all the way and achilles was fine so win win win. Last 10min or so we were running into the sunset through some stunning forest and it was absolutely heaven, could definitely be worse places to be stuck.

Friday Mar 20, 2020 #

12 PM

Running (Easy) 50:20 [2] 10.49 km (4:48 / km)
shoes: NB 1080 #4

Achilles slightly noticeable again so kept it just to this

Thursday Mar 19, 2020 #

12 PM

Orienteering 1:30:34 [3] 14.25 km (6:21 / km)
shoes: VJ Bold 7

Nicest day of the spring so far so this was incredibly dreamy. Took an intervals course on Nåsten from before I got here and was going to do it reasonably hard but head was a bit all over the place still so ended up just being moderate speed. So much fun though, loving life

Wednesday Mar 18, 2020 #

Note

Have been told to update my log because everyone thinks I'm dead, all g though no stress
6 PM

Orienteering 1:17:26 [3] 10.87 km (7:07 / km)
shoes: nvii Forest 1

'Final' of the nightcup at Lunsen, with a kind of chasing start except I hadn't done enough to be in it so was in the mass start at the back. Pretty clean through the first section so was working my way up a bit but then lost some time taking my own line on a long leg. Was just working my way back on to people when I drifted really badly on the final long leg, had a nice swim in a marsh and by the time I figured it out I was pretty close to the finish so bailed. Ah well, still a good fun night out

Tuesday Mar 17, 2020 #

10 AM

Running 49:00 [3] 10.43 km (4:42 / km)
shoes: NB 1080 #4

Bit of a tester, all feeling pretty good other than slightly noticeable in the last 5min but still good enough to get into some lighter training this week. Bit of an interesting day trying to get my head around a lot of things but current plan is to stay over here, hopefully she'll be right

Monday Mar 16, 2020 #

Cycling 1:50:00 [1]

Slightly bearable now I have a slightly decent bike and chucked some good podcasts on

Sunday Mar 15, 2020 #

Note
(rest day)

Being a sensible boy with my achilles especially as there's no rush any more.

Saturday Mar 14, 2020 #

10 AM

Running warm up/down 10:29 [2] 2.26 km (4:38 / km)
shoes: nvii Forest 1

Orienteering 1:08:41 [2] 12.28 km (5:36 / km)
shoes: nvii Forest 1

Maybe the biggest 'competition' I'll get to do in Sweden (a relay training with a few of the other clubs but on a good area/course and with SI so sort of felt like a race). Ended up a bit behind the main front group quite early but ended up having a good battle of the english speakers with Harrison for most of it. Then achilles started getting a bit worse so eased up for the last couple of ks.

Friday Mar 13, 2020 #

12 PM

Running 1:10:21 [2] 14.38 km (4:54 / km)
shoes: NB 1080 #4

Bit of Nåsten, took a few wrong turns that meant I actually found some nice trails I hadn't been on before. Little bit of pain in my achilles started to develop though

Running 30:00 [2] 8.51 km (3:32 / km)
shoes: NB 1080 #4

30min tempo
Wanted to do a bit of a lighter session today instead of the usual Friday track so thought I'd mix it up and try the Thursday night sessions for the first time. Tbh not the biggest fan of just grinding on a road but it was alright, apparently there are usually more people there which'd make it a bit more enjoyable.

Running warm up/down 31:47 [2] 6.47 km (4:55 / km)
shoes: NB 1080 #4

Got talked into going the long way home with the others

Tisdagsbana
Had to be a bit careful not to get my knee wet/infected so did one of the shorter options and skirted around a few of the deep marshes. Meant I actually had to do some orienteering rather than just jumping on the Rassmus train, outrageous

Running warm up/down 17:17 [2] 3.85 km (4:29 / km)
shoes: NB 1080 #4

Running intervals 32:38 [4] 8.8 km (3:42 / km)
shoes: NB Fuel Cell Rebel

15x400 (200 jog)
Working well with Luke although got dropped a bit on the last few, still all nice and consistent in 68-70. Bit of a cold coming on and really blocked up for this but planning on being careful-ish over the next few days to avoid it getting worse.

Running warm up/down 20:45 [2] 4.18 km (4:58 / km)
shoes: NB 1080 #4

shoes: NB Fuel Cell Rebel

Orienteering intervals 32:55 [4] 7.35 km (4:29 / km)
shoes: NB Fuel Cell Rebel

Went back to do the session at Stenhagen where I cooked my knee, managed to avoid putting any more holes in my body which was a win. Tricky stuff, a few hesitations and took a couple of forest routes which probably weren't the best idea.

Running warm up/down 17:21 [2] 3.52 km (4:56 / km)

2x5x[500(50"), 300 (50")]
Nice to be back working hard for the first time in a while. Tried to hang on to Isac for the first few but he was going a bit quick so dropped off and was mainly on my own for the rest. Ah well, nice and consistent though

Running warm up/down 18:44 [2] 4.02 km (4:40 / km)

Running 1:14:08 [2] 15.55 km (4:46 / km)
shoes: NB 1080 #4

Pretty grim day, just constant sleet. Thought I'd picked one of the better bits to go for this but nah

Tuesday Mar 3, 2020 #

4 PM

Running 48:22 [2] 10.13 km (4:46 / km)
shoes: NB 1080 #4

Back running much sooner than I thought but it's actually healing up nicely. Still a bit stiff though so probably won't be running fast or in the forest for a few days
