Mountain biking (CCLP) 1:53:22 [3] 15.5 mi (8.2 mph) +1047ft
ahr:134 max:159 rhr:47 shoes: Trek Xcaliber

Legs felt a little sluggish, but the repeated rides in the same place have me feeling more comfortable on the trail. Working on carrying more speed through switchbacks.

Trail running (CCLP) 40:47 [3] 3.0 mi (13:36 / mi) +178ft 12:52 / mi
ahr:163 max:176 shoes: Brooks Cascadia 10

Felt like I was going to die the whole time, so I actually feel a little better seeing the heart rate data. Sadly, this effort level includes 45-sec walk breaks every .5 miles. This was MUCH harder than the run in the heat on Monday (of course, that was flat sidewalk vs. trail, but still)

Mountain biking (SIUE) 54:52 [4] 7.2 mi (7.9 mph)

Impromptu tour guide session. Made me push a little more than usual, which is good for me.

88* Working on that heat acclimatization thing. Took it very easy, and it actually felt easy. Nice breeze and well-timed cloud cover.

Mountain biking race (Creve Coeur Hearbreaker) 1:05:41 [4] 10.4 mi (9.5 mph) +633ft
shoes: Trek SuperFly

Did cat 3 race instead of marathon because I'd planned a party for Nathan before realizing there was a conflict. Led from drop-in to woods until about 1/2 way through when my front wheel washed out and I had a really stupid crash. Fell into a lovely soft dead tree and came up laughing, but 2nd girl passed me there. On her wheel until I was able to pass her and then several guys as well and then held her off the rest of the lap and took first.

2nd and 3rd were true beginners, only racing for a couple months, whereas I'm more an unsuccessful veteran, but oh well. For the first time in a race I had to make several passes and had a lot of times where I was being held up by other people instead of the other way around, so that was a nice sign of progress. Also interesting to feel like I was racing instead of just focusing on a nice, steady effort like I normally do in a longer race.
