Orienteering race (SLOC Turkey-O) 2:51:37 [3] 6.4 mi (26:49 / mi) +1116ft 23:01 / mi
shoes: Brooks Cascadia 10

Turkey-O with Mickey. Above Raging Rivers in Grafton, plenty of elevation. Everything was all wet which made for some slippery spots.

As per usual, whiffed big time on our first CP. I'd actually started towards correct reentrant when he told me it was the wrong one. After a LONG climb up the wrong reentrant and twisting my knee in the process, we gave up. Looking at the sides again as we came back down, I noticed the reentrant forked and the one we wanted most assuredly didn't.

Unlike last year, which was orienteering practice, the goal this year was more race practice, so I spent a lot less time looking at the map and a lot more time following. Still got to do a lot of the "this is where we're going next" and route planning when he was punching, and I definitely felt like I was a contributing team member on the nav. Trying to keep up with him is like chasing a mountain goat, and I was terribly slow on most all bushwhacking sections.

Looked all over for 20 and finally called it. Only a couple people found it, apparently was placed way lower than it looked like it should be. Sloppy bearing to 7, and after doing a lot of climbing (too much, I think) we called that one rather than go all the way down and reattack with time ticking away. Didn't go for 4 which was at the top of a cliff bc we didn't think we could make it in the <10 min we had left at that point.

Overall good race. I was frustratingly slow off-trail and our nav was a little sloppy at times, but I think route choice was OK.

Running (Neighborhood w/B) 21:49 [3] 2.0 mi (10:54 / mi)

My senior citizen dog is getting too old for back-to-back runs, even easy ones. :(

Running (Neighborhood w/B) 25:07 [3] 2.4 mi (10:28 / mi)
shoes: Brooks Adrenaline

Zero desire to run, but it was beautiful and still light out. And then about a mile it it magically felt wonderful and effortless. It was a super easy pace, but it was nice to feel good at it. Got cold fast as the sun set, though.

Biking (Pancake ride) 4:41:02 [3] 63.7 mi (13.6 mph)
slept:8.0 shoes: Airborne Delta CX

Page parking lot to Dutzow for pancakes and back with a Momentum group.

Left home in sub-freezing temps. Unfortunately the day warmed up pretty quickly, leaving the Katy a soggy mess. Much bigger effort than last week's 85.

Got to practice with Mickey's new towing system, which I like WAY more than the dog leash one.
