Biking race (Cedar Cross) 9:27:47 [5] 116.0 mi (12.3 mph)
shoes: Airborne Delta CX
Prodded by Mickey and inspired by silkychrome's last year Cedar Cross post (where she talked about using a nearby race as a test of what she can do rather than playing it safer in a faraway race to avoid DNFing), I did sort of the same. Rode my own pace instead of riding with friends, pushed significantly harder than usual.
I cut 1.5 hours off last year's finish time, but my moving time (which is reflected above...total time was something like 10:25) was only 10 minutes faster this year. That's kind of disappointing because I felt like I rode MUCH stronger, but a) the race was a couple miles longer this year to a change in start/finish location and b) the last section of singletrack was more HAB for me than riding. Definitely rode closer to strong riders than in the past. I *think* I was 5th solo female, but I'm not sure.
