Orienteering (Nav practice course) 3:01:06 [3] 4.7 mi (38:32 / mi) +928ft 32:28 / mi
shoes: Merrell All Out Peak

Helped lead a group for nav field practice at adventure camp. Covered almost all CPs on the practice course using the "I spy" method (just seeing it was enough, so no climbing to the tops of hills or bottoms of reentrants necessary). Felt very confident on the map, had to dig us out of one bobble, but I was right on with the correction.

Moving time was 1:27:47. Lots of time lost walking slowly and discussing as a group, I guess.

Note

My volunteer station for the ropes section (when I normally am clearing the course and get back with about an hour to play on the ropes) was unloading the Tyrolean traverse, which was hard enough before they raised the line but a real challenge afterwards. Pushing/pulling down the rope so campers could unhook was a serious arm/shoulder/core workout, but it feels cheesy to log 4 hours of it.

Running (Neighborhood runs) 24:05 [3] 2.2 mi (10:57 / mi)
shoes: Brooks Adrenaline

Running in light sleet. Total time includes approximately 37 bathroom stops for the dog. On the plus side, he's cleared to run again after getting all healed up from the attack. He actually managed to run the whole time (except when he was stopped to pee), which I'm not sure whether to attribute to the cooler weather or the fact that I'm slower enough that the runs don't tax him as much.

So fun. Teachers vs. local fire dept. We crushed them. :)
