JayXC:
Saturday (25F):
Craft wind briefs, Sugoi mid-weight tights, swix ski pants
Polypro long sleeve shirt, regular ski jacket
wool socks, hat, swix star gloves. May have added a buff at 15F.

Sunday (-10F):
Craft boxer wind briefs, mid-weight tights, swix ski pants
Craft double knit long sleeve with chest wind panel, regular ski jacket
wool socks, boot covers for ski boots, ski gloves *, buff as a balaclava and a hat.

* we stopped at a ski store before skiing Sunday and the guy there was promoting these gloves as the warmest he had ever worn. We all bought them and EG and I wore them. He's correct, they were amazing!

Bash:
What is your "regular ski jacket"? I'm assuming you don't mean a puffy ski jacket like a downhiller would wear? Maybe a mid-weight softshell?

Depending on that, our layers sound very similar lately.

JayXC:
Nope, this one.
I did have a down puffy in my pack just in case...

Mr Wonderful:
So no face precautions, like goggles or vaseline or scarf? I'm never sure whether to worry about my poor nose.

Nice jacket! :)

Mr. W, not sure about Jay but I always wear sunglasses or other eye protection in cold weather. No Vaseline but always sunscreen. Like Jay does, I use a buff as balaclava until the temperatures go *way* down. When we raced in the Northwest Territories in a blizzard, I wore ski goggles and a fleece balaclava (stays warm when wet better than a buff). The problem with covering your nose - and even your mouth - is that your glasses can fog up so it has to be really cold before I cover up that much. I also have neoprene balaclavas with breathing holes but haven't used them in a long time.

I'm sure Jayxc had some of this on his face...

what store did you get the gloves at?

JayXC:
@Ang- You are correct.
@escondido- Bought them at Greg Christy's near Chelsea. I think their secret is the wool liner.

You are not allowed to come to this region without at least posting it in advance. Just sayin'.

Sorry T. Rex, it was a last minute decision and the plan even changed 25 minutes before we hit the snow Sat. morning. I'll be there again for the Loppets Feb 14-17. Would you be available to join us for dinner one of those evenings?

T. Rex:
You're forgiven. ;-) Oooh sweet .. yes, we can make it work! Excited!

If we have breakfast at the same time, not likely I'll see the likes of you out on the course during the event.

Me too....see you at breakfast . Coach ld you will probably be in the A wave this year based on your result last year and will see Jayxc then.

Thanks for the vote of confidence but I'm afraid I'm not in the shape I was last year with a meniscus repair in October and a lot less skate training this winter. We were work to rule to last winter so I had way more time to get out on my skis, and very little other stress or responsibility - not so this winter. We've certainly had plenty of snow around here, but lousy driving. So I have actually been out on my classic skis a fair bit on the river - just hasn't been the conditions for skating, and I haven't done many hills. I'm sure Gatineau will still be fun - it's too beautiful there not to be.

I have a date with a phat bike on the Friday night (little fat bike race in Chelsea), when were you guys hoping to do dinner? Could likely do dinner before hand and also between Saturday plans. Let's figure it out! Do you guys want restaurant recommendations? What type of food? If location of restaurant is important, let me know.
