Great that you toughed out the navigation, good determination. I'm surprised we didn't see more of you out there...we finished barely ahead of you, 6 minutes.

Way to go! FYI, I was the crazy lady muttering to myself ;)

Haha. I'm like that all the time & many times without a compass in my hand. You should hear me yelling at the computer screen at work. Whatever gets you through. :-D

Great determination out there! My first couple of Thomass races last year were very lengthy and I probably had a few little "talks" with myself too. Hope you two made it back home before requiring a roadside snow tire change!

You were smiling at the end, so well done. And no crying in orienteering. Occasional crying in adventure racing, but not orienteering.

I talk to myself regularly in longer solo nav races!

Thanks guys, you're all very kind! Great to see you all and enjoy some chitchat over delicious fajitas!

If I find myself losing contact with the map I have a key word I will yell out really loudly to try to gain control on the map reading focus. For most people that key word is "MAP". For me it is "F*************K". A loud and longly drawn out yell. Whatever works but it makes for some strange faces when done with others around.

With a large trail network I elected to use rather small features and fewer CP's for that race so more precision nav was needed than normal.

You mean you don't cry during an O Chase?! ;) I 'll be honest, I dropped the fbomb but it was pure passion.

Thanks for a great morning (and afternoon hehe). The maps are making for excellent reading/learning material with my breakfast.

Hey, way to go! It was awesome to see your smiling face as we passed at control D :-)

Reminds me of circling one hill for over an hour trying to find a control... it happens.

I think Hammer's advice is sound, except with the ARK kids and little school children, it might be a bad habit to form :-)

Sorry I couldn't stick around after :-/

It's refreshing to hear all your stories, just need to stick to it. Even if it's a slooooow process.

You missed some tasty treats, that's for sure!
