What did you choose? Seems like 10 min might be enough for any of them.

Seems that one thing that unites the world is complaints over the poor quality of Olympics TV coverage. (You also get to appreciate how parochial each country's Olympics coverage is when you see it somewhere else - we were in Hungary for the first few days of the 1996 Olympics and TV was wall-to-wall fencing).

Yes- last week saw all sorts of things Croatia, not understanding a word which seems nice. The allowed us to watch the US v Cro women basketball. Now this week it is all Slovenia with strange sports, to us, like women's judo and fencing. Nice reprieve from NBC.

Here in Germany, Slalom Kayak is fun to watch.

Oooh, slalom kayak! My sister did some of that (not Olympic level) when she was younger and it was fun to watch. Looks easy to make it through those gates, but it's really not.

Me, I'm a prisoner of NBC.

Ooh, cool, I haven't ever seen slalom kayak on TV, nor judo actually. And as for choice, I have to admit to mostly glancing at Shallow Hal.... =)

My sister

Nancy? A very pleasant and talented woman. Haven't seen her in a while. A little correspondence now and then when a grievance erupts.

We've caught just a few glimpses of the kayaking. Wish we could find more.

@Charlie--Yes, Nancy. These days she's more into square dancing (which her husband enjoys; he does not like O) and sailing, so she doesn't travel much for orienteering. She tried keeping the Houston club afloat but that's hard to do when there aren't enough bodies. She kayaked while in the northeast before moving to Houston.

Janet, one of the WOC runners from South Africa has recently moved to Houston and is looking for things to do. Would your sister like some help?

As for Olympics, the Norwegian (NRK) coverage appears quite comprehensive online - we seem to be able to watch whatever sport we want, whenever. The problem for me is that I can't find anything that interests me. I find it hard to be excited about any of it. Sometime in the last decade I lost interest in watching sports. Especially if I don't know anyone competing! Spoiled by watching my friends orienteer at WOC, I guess.

Yeah--I kept 'seeing' orienteers when I saw podium shots of the medal ceremonies.

Cristina--can I send you Nancy's email? (while she's trying to get away from being "in charge" of HOC, I'm sure she'd be interested in what an elite orienteer could offer)

Sure, I can try to get them in touch. Jeremy said he'd tried emailing people through the website (or the like) and never heard anything back, so a good contact would he helpful.

Email sent to you, Cristina (thanks, Ali, for letting us use your log). :-)

You all are welcome to use my log too for shady orienteering transactions.
