This is a good race, keep up the good work. you are lucky to have so many trail race ops, here we basically have zero in the summer and shorter races are very rare.

Thanks, indeed I have more trail racing options than I can possibly get to with an hours drive. Wickham Parks starts up on Mondays pretty soon, theres a couple 5k XC races up on MA on Tuesday evenings, 7 week Bolton series starts next Wed conflicting with Forest Park & swords, there's a local Thursday night T&F meet under the lights (haven't done that yet, though may do the relay night in Aug with clubmates). Friday nights are open though :-)

@BP - pace doesn't seem stellar to me, but it is a pretty technical, rocky course with quite a bit of moderate pitch elevation change. No killer climbs, but it ain't flat. Site of the '98 NEOC Troll Cup A-meet and '01 Billygoat.

PS - since I made the O map, I know the course rather intimately, that helps...

so nice to have so many trail races so close by. we use to have 3-4 in Oct. and if you want more you have to travel to chicago area, which can suck getting to at certain times of the day.

So Gay City, huh? Didn't know there was a race there. That would have been fun. Looks like I might have had a good chance in my age group, too :).

Massachusetts XC evening races in addition to the ones you mentioned are the Stanley Park (Westfield) 3 miles every Monday and Holyoke Elks 5k every Thurs. I haven't gone to them this year (or maybe last year, either), but I used to go to them pretty often.

I was thinking Holyoke Elks was Tue - which didn't make sense with NoHo the same night. Forgot about Stanley park, will have to update the calendar.

Gay City is well run by the Hartford Marathon folks, I think their only trail race.

I like the Stanley Park race, have done it many times. Thinking about NoHo tomorrow. Haven't done that one, except for parts of Phil's various sprint courses there.

I've never done NoHo either. On my list to try this summer. Done a couple at Holyoke, but not in a few years - I recall carrying Hayden for the 2nd half of the last one we did...

It was about 20 years ago now, but Rhonda ran the Chilmark 5K with Jessica on her shoulders one year, letting her down with 100M or so to go so Jess could sprint in. Probably ran it almost as fast as we could run it now without lugging around a 7 year old kid.

Yeah, Hayden started out running, but only got about halfway before petering out... So I carried him on my shoulders. I wasn't moving so fast so sent Jackson on ahead to finish, unfortunately he followed some runners who were on their cooldown and wound up running off the course... Got a little nervous for a bit...
