don't be discouraged by a slower time in the thick vegetation. You are faster than you were in the winter, but this training wasn't a good showcase for that :) It's also harder to run fast when you're by yourself and not racing for "real".

Since I was the course setter for that event in both 2010 and 2009, I can attest to the slower speeds and vast difference in the park. In 2009, I pre-ran around August or September and thought I was giving it a good hard effort. I think I shaved at least 10 minutes off later with the leaves off. That park has what are fairly distinct clumps of saplings. In the summertime, I mapped many of them along the courses because I thought they would affect navigation. In the winter, people ran straight through them like they weren't there and in fact, you can see and go right through them then while hardly being touched.
