Good to hear you enjoyed it ;-)
I felt map had dated vibes - eg much less vegetation/rhodies mapped than normal these days - esp for a middle race.
My time losses were my own but I did have a few hesitations/stops to check things. Mainly not fit enough to run enough of the course to trouble the leaders :-(
Potentially voided women's and men elite courses...oh dear...not the best of days.
Seems like W21E voided but not M21E… was it the same control that caused so many problems?
No. Different control for the men elite, but why the different outcome?
Women's control was also on M60. Surely that also to be voided?
M21E still under protest, jury meeting this morning.
@Chas per the rules no reason to void a class unless the outcome has been significantly affected. Pretty clear that wasn’t the case on M60L.
And for M21E - what Jenny said.
@JonX Clive might have another view.
Clive lost 40sec to the fastest on that leg and finished 7mins down in 11th, nearly a minute behind 10th…afaik he did not protest but if he had it is hard (imo) to see why it would be upheld.
Plus M60L were approaching the control from a different previous control, also potentially relevant.
Shut your moaning Adams, you'd never catch me doing that.
;-p
M60 had our second control from yesterday as first today… except control was 50m further up the bottomless bog :-))) Lovely start to the race!
It was a bit strange that there was no announcement (before everyone started) that the incorrectly hung controls from day 2 had been moved for today. Would have been good to know!
I would have approached from a different direction and suffered maybe 10m of mud rather than 60m of mud ;-)
@Jenny it would have been very very odd if they hadn’t been moved to be correct for a new race on a new day! Imagine how critical we would all have been if classes ended up being voided again on the Sunday for the same reason as on the Saturday!!
Absolutely but I think there were some people racing who didn't even know there was a protest due to the lack of communication.
@JonX, the planner and controller both went out to check 179 on day 2, concluded it was in the correct place, and then it moved 50m+ overnight...
