Orienteering race 23:00 [4] 2.5 km (9:12 / km)
shoes: Inov8 - Xtalon 212

Sprint race at Durand park. very nice venue for a sprint. I ran okay but am feeling some fatigue. Biggest mistake was at #8 on which I lost about 30 seconds, coming up the hill much too far North.

Orienteering 40:00 [1] 2.1 km (19:03 / km)
shoes: Inov8 - Xtalon 212

Map simplification training at Durand. I think there is a good idea here but I'm not sure it worked perfectly today. Before hitting the course, we drew a new simpler map by hand and navigated using it. My hand drawn map only retained relative bearings, attackpoint features and control features, and it was too easy. If they made you switch maps with someone, that could be much more challenging. The maps also make an informative diagnostic tool to find out what someone keys off.

Orienteering 19:00 [5] 2.0 km (9:30 / km)
shoes: Inov8 - Xtalon 212

Memory duo training exercise with dersu. This is a great training format and whether you lead or follow, there is always a lot to think about with very little time to rest. I was pretty dead by the end of this one.
