Third event syndrome kicked in today. Having had 2 reasonable runs the last 2 outings this time was not so good. A couple of wobbles costing 30 second or so on 1 and 5 plus a big miss on 2 which dropped 7:30.
Was a bit high on 1 and had to drop to the control. Then headed up the hill and onto the road to 2. Tried to contour through the clearings, but there was a lot of green, and the clearings were hard to read. Went very close to the control, and if I had looked right instead of left probably would have seen it. But it was a costly detour. Then did a big loop and came back from the opposite direction. 3 and 4 were ok, then overshot 5 by about 30 m and had to come back. After that was reasonably good.

A reasonable run. Only unhappy with 14, which was at the start of the marked route. Looked down saw the flag, but convinced myself it wasn’t mine, so ran a bit further on, and then looped back. Probably a minute. Went all the way round the rock to 15, the other end of the “taped” route so dropped a few more seconds there. Other than that was in touch with the map and read the terrain ok. Winsplits attributed a couple of other “errors” but I was happy enough with the way I did the legs, probably going slower to get the navigation right.
