Road bike 2:04:00 [3]
shoes: Bike: Scott Addict R3

Back home, and all the shit which i have let pile up while i have been away is about to hit the big fan. Got out in the arvo but legs were too rooted to do SE's, so it just turned into a fluff ride with some sprints and a short TT up the hill.

Orienteering race (Aus Middle Champs) 40:14 [5] ****
shoes: VJ Twister

Not sure what i was doing today, cause it definately wasn't orienteering. Hit the first well, then got pushed off by the green out of the control. Ended up about 5 contours below #2, and ducking pissed off. Got going again up to the spectator control, but was fluking it most of the time. Completely arsed up #16, and pretty much gave up and jogged back.

Orienteering race (ASC Galaxy Sprint) 15:54 [5] ****
shoes: Asic DS Trainer VIII

Great sprint area, had a bit of everything. Park, scrub, school, campground, etc. Bit of a ruckus caused by people cutting across 'impassable' water courses and marshes. Thumbs up to those who were man enough to admit to it.

Personally i am just lucky that our shrewd Nuggets leader Bruce reminded me before starting about the watercourses. He forgot to remind me to go the controls in order though, and i ended up at 15 before 14. Lost 30sec, but got fastest split 14-15 and had the chance to pass blair for the second time (so it was almost worth it) ! Pretty clean apart from that, lost time through the second half to craney only in running speed. Pretty happy to pick up second place cheque (pretty sure that's the first cash i have ever got from an O race).

MTBO race 2:47:00 [4]
shoes: bike: Scott Genius RC10

Mid week MTBO event at Mt Crawford Goldfields (3hr score). Finished the first map in about 1:50, then they had a second map for people who finished early. Got all them too with a bit of time to spare. Bloody good area for MTBO, nicely mapped too by Andrew Slatery.

Rode back to pooraka from event. Even though i started a lot higher than i finished, there was a few big bergs in the way. Took them all pretty cruisy for a nice recovery ride.

Hit the hills proper today. Pooraka - inglewood - birdwood - mt torrens (checked out the road nats loop) - ashton - mt lofty - belair - glenelg. Nice one way ride, met the family at glenelg for some beach time.

Staying in Pooraka in northern Adelaide suburbs. Went out northish following some of the route of the TDU from a few years back. One tree hill - kersbrook - george rd - pooraka. Pretty cool ride, though not too hilly as i am still a bit fatigued from all that running.

Orienteering race (Easter Day 3) 50:25 [5] ***
shoes: VJ Twister

Left knee had been getting steadily worse over the past few days, and today it actually started to affect my speed. Lost time steadily to guys like jules and craney through running speed, plus about 30s on #3 by not paying attention in the circle. Was surprised to catch blair, and even more surprised when he disappeared off up the wrong erosion gully at #9. Got the fastest split the next leg trying to put more distance into him.

Finished 6th or 7th every day, and 6th overall. Running speed is definately holding me back at the moment, if you take out mistakes i could only see a few places higher each day. Jules, troysie and matt were all running prob up to 30s/km quicker than i was. That's life though, bet i could beat them all on a bike ;)

Notice the pattern of warm-up/cool-down getting shorter as my knee and head lost interest?

Recoveryish ride, but its hard to go easy on the new bike - it freaking accelerates by itself!

Orienteering race (Easter Day 2) 1:39:25 [4] ****
shoes: VJ Twister

Wasn't really looking forward to this day, and the splits showed it. Never pushed too hard, just trying to make it to the end without completely disgracing myself. Lost big time on the longest leg with a shit route and drifting off and having to climb more than needed. Shep caught 6min on me near the end, but he was fucked too (u should have heard him). Stayed with him to the end, even was leading up some of the final hills (goes to show how slow he was going).

Orienteering race (Easter Day 1) 35:22 [5] ****
shoes: VJ Twister

Goldmining, should have been better at this. Made a big fuck up early on losing 90s, then a bunch of other little misses here and there. Not too unhappy with how i am moving through the forest.

Road bike 2:16:00 [3]
shoes: Bike: Scott Addict R3

Big triangle loop, very flat roads. Cross tailwind first leg, cross headwind second leg, then wind shifted to give an even worse headwind back home. Not all that bad though, wind is a good substitute when there is no hills.

Orienteering race (Easter Prologue) 15:45 [5] ***
shoes: VJ Twister

Just a wee bit rusty with the old fine nav ... not having been on a proper map since november last year! Lost about 10s on the first 5, and lost the feeling of knowing how hard I can push myself running.

Out and back from accom. Awsome tailwind out = nasty headwind back. Was getting dark so had to move quick!
