Nordic Ski-O race 1:05:00 [3] *** 5.0 km (13:00 / km)
12c shoes: Atomic RS10

The race went badly for the first part. Jogging in place at the start as they handed out the maps, F12 next to me dropped her map, blew away quickly in the windy field, my attempt to grab it resulted in my map getting loose, butI snagged it with a well place pole plant, which unfortunately made a nice tear across the web of ski trails.
Started at the back and after some slow gliding out of the start I spotted the the first control. Not a great route to it, then back up hill to #2 then ....where the heck is 3.... uh oh, I just came from three, which I had thought was one....Ah that control I just passed is 1.!
Feeling decidedly stupid but pressing on as it was too cold to stand around I went back to one, and navigated quickly through. 2 and 3 again.
Saw all my competitor mates going this way and that, could they actually still be nearby?
Managed to miss the common butterfly control on the third go round, blowing off another .2-3 minutes.
Saw no one as I climbed into the last part of the course, then spotted Larry Berman coming out of 9. Could he be the lead?
Downhill all the way to 10, and there is Larry buried off to the side of the control mumbling about the women who had blocked his way and sent him flying.
Missed a bit too high going to 11, but held the lead to the finish.
Kinda wish we had been on a long course though.
