(not a fan of the 2m contours with 1m form lines)
Especially because of the vegetation. Those contours are fine in an open field, but geez, when covered with salal, ferns, blackberries, and other stuff, I have a hard time picking them up!
Don't start race within 2 minutes of people I know.
They actually let me start 1 minute behind you, but I waited another minute, since there was nobody else in line.
Also: you clinched money!!!!
Form lines:
I think there were ferns that were taller than contours!
Starts:
I hope you don't feel like I blame you! I start by people I know all the time (Shara, Julie…) and it's hard to avoid due to carpooling, etc. But I rarely start after 11pm, so I was surprised that there was zero wait to start!
And:
Money!!!
Although I hope to hang on to 2nd in the season… we'll see...
Oh, wait- I just read your log. I CLINCHED 2ND?? With a 6th place finish?? Or does it have more to do with how other people performed?
Marissa is in 3rd with 360, and Gina next with 358, and there's only 1 race left, so there's only so much they can improve their scores with just one race left. Marissa can only get +16, Gina +14. And besides being mathematically impossible, neither one of two won a race this year.
Tori C has won a race, but she also has an 83-pointer that will count, so your 6th place 88 is actually good in comparison. Tori can only max out at 375.
Also, finishing 1st or 2nd in any race is huge, because of the point gaps (5 for 1st, 3 for 2nd). Of the 10 spots so far this season, Heather has 3, you have 3, and nobody else has more than 1.
The end game comes FAST.
After Shoreview, there were 104 WIOL kids still mathematically eligible for 9 championships. Now? Just 13.
Yeah, well that explains why I was so nervous for yesterday's race! (Especially after having done well in the venue last year.)
I'm getting better at staying relaxed, but I'm still working on it.
