Looking at the map without your route, I would have left #9 heading NE and then run on the road until just past the pond. But you stayed in the woods all the way, only a small savings in distance. Are the woods so runnable that even a small detour to the road isn't worth it?
I knew I was leaving some time on the table, but the woods were so nice that I went there instead. If I were trying to win a race I would have gone on the road. I assume that is what Karen Muffati did. She and I were pretty close on every other leg, but she beat me by 1:15 on 9-10, and that was about her margin for the whole course.
Karen said that she did run the road. Was not route while setting but she wanted to get in.
