Yeah, you guys did it. Glad to hear! Now time to rest the legs and buy a new bladder!
Nice work. I was still feeling the effects of WT over the weekend so I was thinking how tough it must have been for you two!
Sorry we didn't chat after the event but we were feeling a little chilled and wanted to get out of the state forest before fallen trees closed off the roads. I'm sure you had to do some off-road driving to get out, as we did. Congrats on winning the Trifecta Cup! This rogaine was a tough one and you guys were rockstars to do so well the week after WT. I was feeling sleep deprivation effects just from working WT Race HQ. Good job keeping the podium Canadian. (Well, JayXC is only an honourary Canadian but I've been teaching him the language.)
P.S. From reading your entry, I'm not sure if you knew that the overall winner was Francis Falardeau's male team. They were about 60 pts ahead of us.
No I didn't realize they won the overall. Barb just said you beat us by 40 odd points and we were second. I assumed that was the overall. Makes sense though as he is usually very strong.
I'm jealous of your coffee mug. We got water bottles.
Congrats on the overall win "Bubba Tim". Goal achieved.
"...so we had to empty it out and share one bladder for the rest of the night."
Out of context that just sounds wrong.
Congrats Trifecta-boy!
I probably should be offended by "Glad to see Barb has found a teammate that can keep up with her over the 24 hour period. " but it's true! Nice work, all of you. Hurricaine-O, what's next?
@Bent, Yeah I guess you are on the list of people that can keep up with her. I unfortunately am not.
Fac champs and then off to Tasmania.
Good job!
When are you guys leaving for Taz? All going together?
Looks like not a lot of gear required, I'm thinking of shipping my bike down ahead of time. Have you guys looked into any such things?
@Tiny, of course you can; you were an awesome teammate. If your Achilles hadn't gone on the fritz, we were on track for a great result last year. Placing 5th of 22 Coed teams was decent given that we stopped looking for controls after 17.5 hrs.
@'Bent, I suppose my marrying you was an indication of my opinion of you as a teammate. Your knee is getting better so now you just need to get out orienteering again - ahem. :)
I believe we leave for Tasmania on the Wednesday before. We couldn't figure out a way to arrive in Tasmania on Saturday morning if we left any later. Right now we'll spend a night in Sydney and then catch a flight the next day to Taz.
I looked into the cost of shipping stuff down (even to consider sending food/gear) early. The price was just crazy high, even more than it would cost to fly with it.
What are you guys doing about the bike boxes? Have you found something here that fits their dimensions?
I think Chris ordered us 4 of the cheap bike boxes down there.
