I'm glad you didn't find any of those big honey locust thorns. There were a few around.
Well two days before I ran in my neighbors field which had been plowed but still contained remnants of broken soy bean stalks. I was impaled about 6 times on my right foot. I still ran with Zeke that way, but carried some foot covering just in case. I knew Zeke would be slow enough and he did a fair amount of walking. I am glad you told me after wards though... honey locust is definitely a plant I respect...or really fear!
I hear you. One time at Georgia Nav Cup a number of years ago, I had one go right thru the sole of an O'shoe and into my foot. I managed, somehow to loosen the shoe enough to get it off my foot, but there was no way to pull the thorn out of the shoe, so I ended up walking back to the finish barefoot. You've just gotta love walking muddy horse trails barefoot with a bloody hole in your foot. Amazing that I didn't succumb to some nasty infection!
I later had to use pliers, and a lot of muscle to finally get the thorn out of the shoe.
I had one snap into the joint of my finger one time. They must also have a toxin in them, because I also had to use pliers and then had discomfort for a long time afterwards...I AM glad I learned about those AFTER I finished the run:)
