Erg rowing 45:00 [1]

Started Daybreak. Being on DVD should be more convenient for rowing, which is somewhat hands on.

Biking 1:47:17 intensity: (34:15 @0) + (38:44 @1) + (26:15 @2) + (7:39 @3) + (24 @4) 23.85 mi (13.3 mph) +132m

Talk about a brilliant way to start the day! Up before dawn, bike lights charged and ready, I made my way up to the Green Oak entrance to Island Lake, rode most of Blue, bailed out via the Badlands to McCabe, and then took it home. Nice weather, little traffic, just fantastic....UNTIL....

I pulled into my garage, went to put the bike against the wall, and noticed my seat bag was open. No no no no

Work cell phone...missing

Multi tool...missing

In a panic, I jumped in the Escape and retraced my route to ILRA. I didn't see anything. :(
7 AM

Walking 2:04:06 intensity: (1:42:14 @0) + (8:16 @1) + (13:36 @2) 8.83 mi (14:03 / mi) +75m 13:42 / mi

I debated whether or not I should head back and grab my bike, as that would be much faster to loop the single track, but then I thought maybe walking would make it easier to see. I thought about jogging, and did at the start, but then remember that five miles last night + more this morning = not a great idea, so I tried to speed hike it.

I hoped my loot was by the downed tree, where I laid the bike down. No.

I was hopeful with every drop and bouncy climb. Nope.

Finally, after 80 minutes of hiking, by God's grace I saw a tire lever. A few dozen meters later, my phone. A few dozen meters later, my multi tool. Hooray!

There is probably still a lever and maybe some tire patches out there, but I was already horribly late for work so I jumped out to the road and tried to speed hike back. I missed the shortcut, but it doesn't matter all that much. I must've looked rough, as a couple of biking ladies asked if I was okay. Yes, quite relieved actually, but pretty miserable from being bit dozens of times by deer flies. They were pretty bad at walking speeds.

Weights 20:00 [1]

Some lifting during Tosh. I have lost some strength - my favorite one, a sort of dumbbell squat to standing military press...rep count is way down.
5 PM

Running (Trails) 1:00:01 intensity: (33 @0) + (6 @1) + (4:45 @2) + (32:04 @3) + (22:25 @4) + (8 @5) 5.26 mi (11:25 / mi) +63m 11:00 / mi

I finally had a chance to run around Bird Hills, which would make for some sweet orienteering, with the epic ravine, boulders, and reentrants. And no wonder Al can stay in good orienteering shape. They are nice rooty trails too, with some elevation change here and there.

Too bad that would either trample the native plants, or spread invasives, I forget which.

I seemed to get around okay for a bit, no idea if I did a good route, and then I got very turned around near the end, then the funny part was I asked a couple for directions, and the guy laughed since I was by then about three minutes from my target.

Somewhat warm. And I only really can jog okay for 20 minutes, can muck through until about 40, and by the end I was pretty wiped.

Note
(rest day)

I am no longer interested in being fat. I see the challenge for the next few weeks being that wife and daughter don't get up at 5 am, so they are not ready for dinner at 5 pm. It's so easy to knock back a mega snack then. Need moar discipline.

Walking 1:50:10 intensity: (1:48:35 @0) + (1:35 @1) 6.87 mi (16:02 / mi) +35m 15:47 / mi
ahr:98 max:129 shoes: Brooks Cascadia

I was excited when it was raining pretty good while I fed dog #1, but by the time I ate some cereal and got outside, 'twas but a drizzle. I still wore my Rage raincoat and pants, which worked fine and were comfy enough, if a little warm!

Next time I won't wait around - as soon as dear daughter wakes me up for a storm, I'll go grab my stuff and do a proper test.

Biking (Mix) 53:38 intensity: (17:58 @0) + (15:17 @1) + (11:07 @2) + (8:46 @3) + (30 @4) 10.8 mi (12.1 mph) +60m

The Badlands have a cliff! Further evidence of its desirability as an o map, as I don't recall many (any?) other cliffs in the southeast Michigan inventory.

Paved road/trail out to the Badlands, then a bunch of zig zagging around the Badlands, then paved roads/trails back.
7 PM

Canoeing (Flat water) 1:05:52 intensity: (52:02 @0) + (11:02 @1) + (2:48 @2) 4.83 mi (13:37 / mi) +1m 13:37 / mi
ahr:117 max:146 shoes: Pirate Canoe

Flat water paddling from Kent Lake Beach into Kensington, slightly short of its beaches. We had a few moments with some nice speed. Now we need to translate those moments into a couple hours of cruising, and we won't give up so much canoe time. It's nice to see progress!

4 miles in one hour may be a record for us.

Walking 52:52 [0] 2.73 mi (19:22 / mi) +16m 19:01 / mi
ahr:95 max:125 (rest day) shoes: Keen Sandals

Wandered around some trails at Huron Meadows, with 14 lb of kitty litter in my pack. Dog #2 really enjoyed it, but Wife #1 did not (buggy, muggy).
