Worst fucking run ever. CKHill to Arden.

Foggy day, not happy to begin with. Started out okay, feeling kinda bad, but figured I'd get over it. Hit the hill behind CK and just died. Walked some of it. Felt totally drained physically. Probably should have eaten something other than crackers this morning. Got to the top and didn't feel like I was recovering at ALL while running the mild downhill.

Jumped the fence behind the water tower, slipped on pine needles and ate it, rolled down the hill. Lame, but I still felt pretty good because I fell on my left hip and only my right hip is badly bruised and missing skin from this weekend. Jumped the fence in front of the water tower and ate it again, this time on rock and solidly on my right hip. Also sliced and diced my right hand and right calf and blood was all over the place. Sat down because I couldn't walk for a while. Pretty angry at myself for fucking up so hard twice in a row.

Ran the rest of the way back, but wasn't having any fun at all at this point. Also realized that I partially tore the sole off my left shoe. Dammit.

I'm pretty worried about the race this Saturday... Going to load up on 1500mg paracetamol, crank the dubstep and finish my homework for the week, then eat some food and sleep a lot.

Running 5:28:00 [3] 31.0 mi (10:35 / mi) +9144ft 8:16 / mi
shoes: Saucony 4mm

Pt. Reyes Wildcat-Sky-Coast loop from Paolomarin.

Probably the best run ever. Starts along the edge of 200ft sea cliffs, then climbs inland through redwood forest and steep hills, descends flowy singletrack with great views, then back along sea cliffs and a big arch on the beach, up an amazing ridge back to the forest, then down along the beach running by a waterfall (had the whole 2mi stretch of beach to myself...), up to a lake with a rope swing (did a normal jump and a backflip... aww yeah.), and back through big eucalyptus to the trailhead.

Remained totally stoked and going fast (9-10min/mile) until mile 16-22 when I got bored and my right leg started tweaking out on my IT band and behind the knee. Luckily there was such a variety of sweet terrain, I rekindled the stoke at the top of the last mountain (22.5mi) and pulled hard until the end. The rope swing at mile 27 was like a burst of adrenalin.

In conclusion, I think I have found the pinnacle of running locations. No big deal, but it's freaking awesome. Even got some rally driving in on the way to the trailhead with a scandanavian flick or seven. Still gotta work on the 180 hand break turn into the parking spot though...

Last long run on my training schedule. SUPER STOKED FOR TAPERING!!!

Running 2:32:00 [3] 14.0 mi (10:51 / mi) +4215ft 8:27 / mi
shoes: Yellow Nikes

Skyline to Sibley Volcanic Preserve Loop

Epic fog, with like 20ft visibility at some points. Got lost on purpose, just kept running, and ended up in a park. I found a map at a trailhead, ran some more (felt really good to be reading a map while running again...), and eventually found my way back.

Jumped a total of seven fences and climbed a water tower. Pretty good run.

What 'chu know about 5-figure elevation gain. I was pretty excited about that.

Dipsea, Stinson, Lagunitas, East Pk

Found a new favorite trail. Both Temelpa and Zig-Zag are awesome, SUPER steep, technical single track. Have to go back when my legs aren't shot and I can run the whole thing.

Song: Feelin' Alright - Joe Cocker
1 PM

Cross-Training 20:00 [3]

Pushups and Jakes' Abs
3 PM

Climbing: Rock 1:00:00 [5]
shoes: Red Mocs

TR solo at East Pk.

Little did I know today is a freaking gumby convention... Tons of people there, and I walk up and hear stuff like "anyone know how to tie this cordellete thing?" and "off belay! .... No, wait, I still have to clip this thing to the rope, right?" Seriously thought some people were gonna die.

There was a rope on EVERY climb under 5.11, so I ended up doing fewer laps on a harder climb than I wanted.
