Orienteering (Sessions Woods) 1:48:00 [3] 7.6 km (14:13 / km) +210m 12:29 / km
shoes: Roclite 312gtx

Cold, rainy jaunt in the woods with Dave Almand. Ran red course while discussing terminology, technique and such. Reasonably clean run, but not all that speedy due to my ills.... Very wet with tricky stream crossings.

I think Dave enjoyed himself.

Between the Lyme and now having a pretty good headcold I really didn't feel like going out this AM, but forced myself just to get something on the board and to see what I might have.

Met up w/ John Agosto and a new runner from Holden, MA at Bigelow Hollow to run part of the Northern Nipmuck course - John was doing the whole thing, I figured I'd be lucky if I could make it as far as 2-pipes.

High 30's and light rain to start, and the legs really started to hurt right off the bat on the first hill. Powerwalked a few uphills, but managed to catch up with John & Justin on the level or downhill sections. Quite surprised to find I could stay with them all the way to the first aid station - but it was a serious effort. I bid them adieu as they continued on while I turned around.

Quickly evident that the return trip was going to be mostly powerhiking as the legs had nothing left to run on, so I stopped, put on an extra layer and set about to brisk walk bag to Bigelow hollow...

Really cold by the time I got back, and really bummed at how poorly I felt on what should have been an easy run. But I'm glad I got out there...

Hiking long (Northern Nipmuck) 1:09:10 [3] 4.0 mi (17:18 / mi)
shoes: Roclite 312gtx

The return trip - an occasional spurt of jogging mostly to stay warm, but the legs really didn't have any running left in them.
