BOK advanced meet at Birkhead. I ran the blue course, which the designer had described as 'ultraviolet.' I thought that this would mean that it was beyond blue, but now I think that it meant that it was a combination of red and blue. Not a bad course, and a mostly decent run with my typical one horrendous leg getting to #4 (on which I lost about 15 minutes). Evidently, it was a confusing area of the park, because as I came through there again on my way to a later control, I ran into Joseph Huberman who was apparently making the same mistake as I had. Mostly nice runnable woods (with a few kind of crappy exceptions towards the end) but I was definitely not as happy with the map as when I ran there last March. The map standards seemed somewhat inconsistent -- gullies mapped in one section were unmapped in another. And the mapper was very stingy with the dry ditch symbol.
A couple classic BOK "control bag completely flush with the ground" controls, one of which was pretty frustrating. If I set the late Oct. meet in Umstead, I will hang bags high.
