Took off from my brothers place, didn't really know a route, but figured I would just keep turning left... Found a nice loop.

Road and paved trail ride from my brothers to the single track on the Southern Illinois University-Edwardsville campus. I didn't really know where the trail head was located, so I had to search a bit. When I found them, they were covered in leaves and still soaked from the rain the prior day. After sliding off the trail in several easy turns and about biting it on a mild downhill, it was time to hit the pavement again... :-(

Cycling (mountain bike on road) 1:22:06 intensity: (3:55 @0) + (2:46 @1) + (6:53 @2) + (41:06 @3) + (27:10 @4) + (16 @5) 21.3 mi (15.6 mph) +202ft

Return trip from SIU-E. Madison County, IL used to have a ton of coal mines. Coal mines = railroad lines. Old railroad lines = Rail to trail. I think the county has close to 100 miles of converted lines and is still going.

First real run in a long time and it showed. I think our pace was Ok.. pretty moderate, but my heart rate, typically low, was high last night. Normally I wouldn't hit a level 5 on this run, and most of the time would be level 3. 45 minutes in level 4.... I wonder if the HR monitor needs a new battery.... :-)

I can't remember the last good run I had. ROGAINE??? How sad is that..

Andrei wore his Newtons for the first time last night.

Note

Working on the house sucks.... I am spending all my workout time working or buying stuff for the house. Why did I have to pull down that board.... that is leading to new gutters and partial reroofing.... old homes. love and hate.

Quick spin with Clark over lunch. We were a little lazy at the start, but picked up the tempo when I realized I may have to skip lunch if we don't get moving...

!!! Newton Alert !!!!

I think my feet stretched/grew a little during the Fat Otter Raid, and they have not returned to their pre-race state. I had to abandon my Newtons, as they caused my toe to blister if I ran more than three miles. I just ordered a new pair (Newton gave me a hefty discount! :-) ) If anyone wants to give Newtons a spin, let me know.

Size 10 Newton Gravity Trainer 138 miles Neutral runner.

I don't advocate for running in someone else's shoes, but these have significant miles left on them.

I will donate through REI if I don't get takers.

Note

I just finished the latest TMMAR blog entry on Thunder Rolls. Enjoy!

A road ride with my Tri friend. A total flip from Saturday. We went out with the sole purpose of hammering some hills. Went from Harriet down Minnehaha. Through Mendota to Ohio for some repeats (5), then up Ramsey and home.

Flatted coming down Minnehaha parkway on the way back. Something has to be done about that road.... Flatted again due to a hasty tube change.... Argh. Abandoned the ride near Lyndale and hoofed it home.

I went riding with a friend who told me she was up for a 30-50 mile ride with hills. Really, she was up for a 30 mile ride with hills, or a 50 mile flat ride.

We started at a good pace, but the hill leaving Afton took a lot of the wind out of her sails.

I printed out directions using google maps for biking.... They got a little confusing.... That is the reason for the blip on the western edge.

Great day for riding. Good fun.

Cycling (Road Ride) 1:30:00 [4] 26.5 mi (17.7 mph)

A fun fast ride with a triathlete friend. Will she convert to AR? Doubtful... she seems pretty committed to her sport. Will she do an event, probably... We'll get her out and run her through some thorns. :-)
