Orienteering race 14:51 intensity: (4:00 @3) + (10:51 @4) 1.18 mi (12:35 / mi) +32m 11:36 / mi

Sprint at Boyscout camp, Wakopominee. Thought it was an ok run but about a B performance in retrospect. A few mediocre route choices & hesitations which added up. Ended up 5th, 30" out of second.

stretching 25:00 [3]

Stretching, a little jogging & looked at Sunday WP - realized I'd not done that.
No dogs, just peace & quiet & a little reflection by the PL. Looking forward to seeing Lake Geroge area - have not been there. Web photos were most appealing.

Track 18:06 intensity: (14:00 @3) + (4:06 @4) 4.2 km (4:19 / km)

SPS mid-pm. Gray so it had cooled off, bit of a breeze. 8' pace then some resemblance of a speed workout toward end. 221, 201, 358, 803, 52, 51, 50, 48, 47. Enough considering race on Friday
10 PM

Note

CE hopeful walk with Ken D & forester representing an older Bow lady with 55 ac of lovely woods. We got a lesson in forestry practices & tree types.
Later, a walk with Beth & dogs in Nottingcook along WH road. '06-7 situation is becoming dated - quite a few changes.

Walking 20:00 [1] 0.7 mi (28:34 / mi)

Along the stream, out to the contours, ferns pushing up everywhere, pondering stream health, snags & debris they catch, water flow & depth. Spotted a second hunter's stand - the two are maybe 125m apart. Climbed up the first one the other day - a view from some 20' up. I find it hard to label shooting deer (occ. baited) that saunter into a high-powered rifle's high-powered scope "hunting".

"Muddy dogs, stay out of the house!"
4 PM

Trail/woods running 41:07 intensity: (10:00 @1) + (31:07 @2) 2.0 mi (20:33 / mi) +54m 18:58 / mi

Out around 5p - warm day. KRTF wander - first a path then almost 10' before another. Then Boulder Tr., then departed that, going S & W and came back to Boulder Tr & back to car. 3rd DP as well. No water to speak of, some very nice open woods, under hemlocks or hardwood. Sluggish & sore right foot.

3rd DP, enough...

Also went to WTF and Nottingcook with Beth & Lisa L to look at dump sites in need of cleanup.

Road/trail 25:35 intensity: (12:00 @1) + (5:00 @3) + (8:35 @4) 2.14 mi (11:57 / mi) +10m 11:47 / mi

Went to BHS with track in mind but fields were awash with kids: boys-girls track meet, lacrosse, baseball & tennis. Found the only quiet field (baseball had just finished) & did 20' of on-off-get-HR-up striding. Bow vs Holderness in the field below for some distraction.

Orienteering 57:09 [3] 6.73 km (8:30 / km) +82m 8:00 / km

UNO College Woods 5.6k green, Ernst as meet driector. Had not been there in years. Nice woods & map. Splendid day weather-wise. Spring green everywhere between Concord & Durham. Good run & energy, tho fell twice. Spent from 8 onward looking at a bloody compass, worth 20". Lost maybe 20" at 9, 40" at 12. No results posted, Jim 56ish, Alar 54ish.

M,C,R. Trails & walls but still some nice terrain to heed in between.

UNO meeting of vintage members after re the USOC meet at Bear Brook in October.

Road/trail 10:09 intensity: (1:00 @1) + (4:09 @2) + (5:00 @3) 1.0 mi (10:06 / mi) +17m 9:36 / mi

Decided on a 'mandatory' mile warmup.

Track 40:00 intensity: (10:00 @1) + (10:00 @2) + (20:00 @3) 3.0 mi (13:20 / mi)

BHS track around 6p - good time of day, cool, light breeze. Had no watch of any kind. Forgot gps & had removed basic watch to wear gps yesterday. Became an exercise in "applied lassitude". More energy predicted tomorrow for UNO meet at College Woods.
