Orienteering (Walking) race 20:02 [2] *** 2.1 km (9:32 / km)
spiked:4/6c shoes: Adidas Swoop

Decided I would run ~25 minutes so estimated that would cover 3.5km if I did 7min/km (which perhaps was optimistic), so ran when the GPS got to 2km.

Not concentrating too well on the navigation whilst walking, more looking forwards to running the second part of the course and thinking it was "easy" whilst walking and not hitting them bang on.

Orienteering 29:21 [3] *** 4.29 km (6:50 / km)
spiked:13/20c shoes: Adidas Swoop

What a great feeling! I ran for 29 minutes, and I feel fine afterwards! I was smiling so much all the way back :) And today actually. It helps so much with work, I revised 9-5 with a lunch break because of this. Not-being-scared has definitely helped today, and it felt like I got in the right mentality and actually did the right thing and it's paid off :)

Having said the navigation was not-too-bad, the 8 mins/km (straight line) and the number of controls I spiked isn't great, but for a first time running so many short legs I'm pleased. The first half of the control pick I made a few silly errors just running blindly on the compass (and not even sticking to that properly), then once I started to visualise and slow down a bit I flowed through the second part quite nicely.

Now no getting overexcited and running too much - still a long way to go, but a long way gone as well.

Down side, which is a bit of a joke: I ran straight past the spectator control without punching it! But that doesn't matter, I RAN!

BOC Here we go!

Warm Up/Down 12:00 [2]

Running warm up/down 12:00 [3] 1.78 km (6:44 / km)
shoes: Adidas Swoop

On the minibus on the way up I started getting proper pain in my hip for no apparent reason, like I haven't felt for a very long time. I tried to relax and let it go away but it was constant and moderate level. Knowing that worrying about it wasn't going to help, and also the fact that I haven't done anything in the last week that could possibly have actually damaged it, I ran to the start. (and back a bit, because I forgot dibber & compass for the first time ever)

Orienteering (Walking) 52:02 [2] *** 4.04 km (12:53 / km)
ahr:126 spiked:13/14c shoes: Adidas Swoop

However once I started the course, it was apparent this pain wasn't going to disappear, so I just walked fairly casually and attempted to enjoy it (which I did, to some extent). I cut off 11-20 because 7.3km at this pace would have taken forever!

Orienteering 3:51 [3] 0.57 km (6:47 / km)
shoes: Adidas Swoop

And I ran the last 2 controls and didn't particularly notice the pain when I was concentrating on the map.

A couple of hours afterwards it started to feel much better, I don't know why this happened but neither do I mind because it's not a bad thing, and Sunday was good.

I remembered the JK where on Saturday I was a bit worried and walked it, then on Sunday I knew I was going to run some of it and was convinced that I would be fine, and had a great Sunday. So if it happened then, it could happen again this weekend. And that's exactly what it did :D That's a step I would never have made before, I would have got mega-worried and not run on Sunday or something.

Strength & Core 1:55:00 [3]
shoes: Asics Gel Nebulous

Brilliant gym session, shaking afterwards! Didn't go this morning because I was catching up on sleep...and felt bad for not going. But I worked for a few hours, and organised a trip to Norway for CUOC (and anyone else that wants to come) for 2 nights (Ryanair flights, £2 + £24 admin fee).

And then I went there at 6.30, and got really into it, and it was very exciting and everything and it's much better doing all the exercises without much of a break in between because it gets the adrenaline going and you can tell I'm excited by writing one long sentence. Andy wrote me a motivational email too, which was a great help. I can't believe how much the way you think affects everything.

I wrote down the order I did everything in, and it seemed to work well so I think I'll do it again. (I just wrote "I'll try to do it again" and then deleted "try". I'm trying to remove the word try from my vocabulary, there's a contradiction)

The plan until Tuesday: Day off tomorrow, walk on Saturday at the British (M21S) and run up to 25 minutes in the relay, as the "long run", Monday off, Tuesday run 20 mins + gym.

Running 20:51 [3] 4.01 km (5:12 / km)
ahr:162 max:177 shoes: Adidas Swoop

Running along the river. Hip felt quite uncomfortable going to bed last night but felt quite good this morning, and still no pain, but started feeling uncomfortable sooner than usual when running.

Note

Here we go again with a down mental state. I'm getting far more worried than I should be, because it doesn't feel as good as it did last week. I don't think I can write everything I'm thinking here, and I don't think there's much point because most of it is crap and once I go to the gym tomorrow I will feel positive, I hope, and have a good session.
