Exerc. Class 55:00 [1]

Ex. class in Chatham. Stretching was necessary, as usual after an orienteering weekend (because I always forget to stretch after I run, and my before-bed stretching routine doesn't get too intense), especially in the right hip area (also, as usual).

She talked about incorporating a couple new stepping "steps" she heard about from a fellow Y-member :-) , but didn't do it today... Maybe next time.

Orienteering race 1:31:22 [4] *** 5.28 km (17:18 / km) +150m 15:09 / km
spiked:10/12c shoes: Jala Jukola Spider 6 #2

Green course, WCOC's new map at Hemlock HIlls, south of Danbury CT. These are great woods for orienteering, and WCOC has more basemap to add to the area already field-checked by Rick DeWitt (and used today). I will definitely go back there. 5th fastest out of 10 on the course (there were 25+ on Red, which was similar to Green but had a few extra little loops), 12 minutes behind 1st place, so a respectable time, though probably not as fast as it could have been.

FR distance covered: 6.28 km

I went slow in some areas because of the downed-leaf cover, especially in creek beds; I was tentative in the steep rocky areas, too. But the woods were very open in most areas, and very runnable. And the steep rocky areas can rival some in Harriman/West Point terrain.

Thanks to Rick, Susie, Lyn, and the rest of WCOC.

Exerc. Class 45:00 [3]
shoes: Asic Gel GT2110 8.5D

Step class at the Y. I did not stay for abs or other muscles because I had to take my car for new tires (greedy little thing). Legs were the only ones that got attention today (besides sitting on my b...).

The slightest tweaking of the knee (pivoting, etc.) gets my right knee in a tizzy; slight pain at the front, so I had to tone back some of the moves and try not to pivot! This knee has been giving me problems since I fell and hit my kneecap at the DVOA sprint in the spring (Fair Hill A meet). It's ever-so-s.l.o.w.l.y getting better, but still not back to 100% (or as close to 100% as it can be). [I was going to add, "at my advanced age," but I know there are a few folks out there -- perhaps not readers of my log -- who might be slightly more advanced....I shouldn't complain.]

Exerc. Class 55:00 [2]

Class in Chatham. Slightly more intense workout today (though she could turn it up a notch on the stepping...maybe she doesn't know about the step-lunges I do at the Y...).

Walking 30:13 [3] 2.0 mi (15:06 / mi)
shoes: Saucony Shadow 6000 8.5 #2

MB/church and back, via the post office to mail a card. Splits are: 14.55 and 15.18 (there's more uphill on the way back).

Note

Last grass-cutting of the year (I hope!). I'm glad it was in the 50's today.
