Running 50:00 [3] 5.0 mi (10:00 / mi)

Ran the Turkey Burner course with Dave and Rick. Everyone "manned up" at the water obstacle!

Bike 2:45:00 [3] 23.0 mi (8.4 mph)

Tested the Turkey Burner course with Dave and Rick. Logged time includes about 30 minutes of screwing around, testing different routes, chatting up a park official, taking a few notes, etc. Temp was pushing 60 today.

Miscellaneous 20:00 [2]

Transitioning.

Running 45:00 [3] 4.5 mi (10:00 / mi)
shoes: Nike Vomero 3

Tonight I did succumb to the hotel treadmill. The belt was loose and I had to put it on max incline to keep it from slipping forward on each stride. And I think the distance measurement must be wrong -- despite the incline I wasn't running 10 minute miles.

Note

I saw Stephen's entry comparing training this year versus last, so thought I'd take a look back too. I started using AP on July 29th, 2008. Between then and year end I averaged 37 hours/month. This YTD I've averaged 32 hours/month. Not so good. Guess I'm not surprised though, as last year work was slow and this year it's been crazy. And I did fewer races this year. Perhaps I can take advantage of the holidays. Or perhaps I can give up AP and spent that time training!

Running 40:00 [3] 5.04 mi (7:56 / mi)
shoes: Nike Vomero 3

Determined not to succumb to the hotel's treadmill, I found my way to the Du Page River in Bolingbrook Illinois. Left the rental car in a dark parking lot to run east on a bike path. Wasn't sure where it would lead me as my phone/GPS battery had died. The path meandered through tall grasses, bouncing back and forth between the narrow river and the backyards of unlit houses. It took me by two bass ponds and through woods before terminating at another parking lot. Running back I heard an owl calling from deeper in the wetlands. No other human souls out on this windy November night.
