Road Cycling 2:00:00 [3] 47.0 km (2:33 / km)

Ultra frustrating day.
A PD day at Elizabeth for all local schools.
So for first half 600+ of us sat and listened to boring, non useful speakers. Afternoon session had 30 mins of useful content just at the end!

Planned long ride from Elizabeth along Northern Expressway was interupted by a bindi puncture. As it was dark and I only had a bar light I walked 2 kms plus to get off the expressway (No lights there) to a house and asked to change tube on their porch. Was a Vietnamese market gardner! Then did an inept job of changing it, as tyre is tight. Also forgot that I need to have the tube flat to get the wheel on thru the brakes, so had to pump it up twice! Had to head back then...

Note

Too busy with school and appointments.
Saw Financial Advisor guy and he was impressed with my simple maths which was bloody funny. I think these guys sometimes make things too complicated ...
D day re retirement is looming. Having confessed this to a handful of people last week I have had 3 jobs offered to me since...(and I'm doing 3 jobs now) .. defeats the point really.
Computer is now faster and with more memory. Yeh

mt bike 35:00 [4] 12.0 km (2:55 / km)

Another first for me - Port Adelaide CC cyclocross race in Adelaide parklands. Albeit I had another V moment and ended there without my helmet, shoes or goves ... Borrowed a too big helmet, found 2 spare gloves in car and rode in thin sandshoes with my mtb pedals!!

Course wasnt as technical as i had expected, and had 2 long "straights" where i could have made time IF i had shoes! As it was my first race (they had an earlier one when i was away) I got started at the back of the pack in the mt bike group. They also had A and B cyclocross bike races.

My race was won by Shawn Lewis, who rode xc for Aus as a junior not so long ago! A few roadie girls beat me which was sad, though they were about 20-30 years younger! I beat a few home. 4 laps - the first one felt not too hard but then my legs complained when i tried to go harder - yesterdays hard ride would not have helped. Riding much faster than I usually do, so my lack of specific training was noteable. But I did enjoy it greatly. Was bitterly cold but didnt rain until the later races.

James Hanus took the lead in A on lap 2 but blew up big time and Harley rode well to pass him, finishing about 9th. Noteable lack of Adelaide mt bike club people - bit wussy. Included UP the tank.

mt bike 45:00 [3] 10.0 km (4:30 / km)

Warm up and cool down for race.
Essential to check out course for CX.
